On Alive, he is specifically and expressly singing about the holy Eucharist, Jesus, zion, Rome, Christianity, turning his life over to Jesus, and eternal life.

When does Ed talk about the holy Eucharist in Alive? Some of ALive is very Christian other while songs are open to interpratation. I'm in the minority on this site, but I really liked Alive. I liked SFBM too, and feel each LIVE album had its own charm and great songs. LIVE is the only band that I've ever been able to listen to almost every album all the way through without stopping.

You might be the only person in the world who can listen to every Live album without skipping any tracks and or entire albums.

Its almost an unrealistic thought thinking of you listening to and enjoying chunks of MJ - SS that weren't singles.

HE talks about it on Eat You Love,

Oh Lord, I need your Bread, I want to eat your Love

The one song that I like musically but not lyrically.

From last years thread: Fish nails it, I reference it.

QUOTE
Is "Eat Your Love" a reference to communion or the eucharist in the Christian religion? If so, I am getting pretty fed up (no pun intended) with the overt Christianity. A New World and Sweet Surrender sound pretty Christian-themed. That is not what I signed up for when I became an Ed fan.

QUOTE
Ugh. Drinking water and wine. Eating your love in the form of bread. Grace. Zion. This is getting into wierd territory. Ed has literally become the exact person he railed against 20 years ago. I'm not judging that. I'm just saying that if Ed Kowalczyk of 1992 knew of an artist that was solo Ed Kowalczyk singing about communion wafers and holy wine and grace, he would have been angry at him.

On the bright side, I look forward to hearing songs in the future about Ed's confessions. Those should be pretty juicy. And a rock'in tune about pedophile priests would be interesting.

QUOTE
This world is crazy and I gotta lot of things to say
There's so much more to love and it may be giving you away
I used to think I had the answers, I got turned around
I used to listen to music, now I hear the sound

Oh Lord
Ooooooooo
I need your bread
I wanna eat your love
Ooooooooo
I need your bread
Your words life and love to me Lord
Ooooooooo
I need your bread
I wanna eat your love

I feel bad for you. Not only because you share something in common with Nick, but that you actually listen to the trash that is V, SFBM, and the majority of the tracks on BOP.

QUOTE(FishOutaWater @ Aug 3 2011, 4:05 pm) *

I will just say this to address Nick's insane bullsh*t. CCP waiting for Ed to return like the prodical son, and make a Live reunion that is a "success" would be a success in Nick's eyes and Ed's eyes. But Live with Ed will never EVER be a success again artistically, unless Ed completely changes his approach to God, music, his friends, his fans, money, music writing and the music business. And then when he figures all of that out, he needs to figure out how to somehow write songs like he used to when he was 18, because he sure as hell hasn't been able to figure out what it was that he lost a long time ago. CCP are Ed's age, and they have families, but somehow they still have the raw, raucous, passionate creativity for rock and roll, and they can still turn it out like they did when they were 18. And I still have the appetite to hear that music and not Christian adult contemproary"oooh la la". To use Nick's words, Live will be a "colossal fail" if they get back together with Ed. The world does not need a SFBM sequel or Alive II from Live. No one needs to see Ed "shake his moneymaker" to the groovey beat of Sofia at a Live concert again. THAT, my friends, is what defiles the legacy of Live. When Live recorded songs like Negation and Good Pain, they were Live. Live was being driven off course for a decade, and no reunion with Ed will ever be any good unless Ed get's struck on his bald head by a lightening bolt and get's shaken back to reality. In the meantime, let him go play Live's greatest hits in front of a bunch of brow beaten session musicians until the well runs dry.

Now on to Live 2.0.

I am a SUCKER for a tenor lead singer. I love Shannon Hoon from Blind Mellon. Listen to The Pusher on the Nico album. That is sick! Have you ever listened to Journey's greatest hits with the volume turned all the way up?!?!? Sung along with Only the Young? Don't Stop Beleivin'? Who could ever replace Steve Perry. But heck, they were on the Today Show last week with their new Asian lead singer who is 20 years younger than the rest of the band and the place was going nuts. I was like they still had everything going on that they had 30 years ago. Have you ever sung along with Led Zeppelin? Boston?!?! One of the things I love most about TGF is Kevin Martin's powerful tenor range. The thing that grabs ahold of me and moves me on all of this great, powerful music is a tenor singer. This Chris Shinn dude sounds like he has the chops. If he is the new lead singer, I will be completely thrilled. I hope he has a great personality and is the kind of guy that we can all get behind.

I'm with Fish on this. I don't know much about Chris Shinn or Blind Melon etc, but from the little I've heard, he sounds decent enough - and if CCP feel he can do the business as LIVE front man, I'm no one to argue.

I'll wait for the announcement and the music. To be honest, I couldn't give a rat's ass who they chose, I'm pretty excited it's new LIVE and new music from CCP.

Dude.. I've never noticed these lyrics because I think I listened to about 10 seconds of the song before I turned it off. Honestly, how could ANY of the original live fans like this?

Ed became Simple Jack. Music and lyrics - full retard. You get no "oscar" when you go full retard. At least not from me.
