freak1
n
1. a person, animal, or plant that is abnormal or deformed; monstrosity
2. an object, event, etc., that is abnormal or extremely unusual
3. Informal a person who acts or dresses in a markedly unconventional or strange way
5. Informal a person who is obsessed with something specified a jazz freak

I'm not sure what you're getting at with this. If the particular word "freak" is the part that is upsetting you, then that's silly. If someone is upset by the word freak, they'd also have a problem with Gaga fans being "monsters" you'd imagine ... and that's working out pretty well for her.

I just think the word brings a negative connotation with it. It may have been cute when we are in our teens, but now most LIVE fans are in their 30's-50's. It just comes across as lame.

ha its funny that we both somewhat agreed we didn't like the new community name, but for completely different reasons now of course. I got no problem with the Live fans being "Freaks". If that's your point well you're just being way too precious. Have a glass of warm milk and cuddle up infront of disney. Negative connotations, god damnit man its ROCK MUSIC.
I've already explained my reason for not liking it on the previous page.

As I say, from a marketing stand point (which we know is what you care about), Gaga with her "monsters" has shown this "negative connotation" is no problem at all. Yes it's a younger crowd, but same difference. If someone is 30-50 like you say, then marketing gimmicks and such are surely beyond them and all they care about is the MUSIC, so as I say, in the end it's just a name, no big deal if people like it or not.

I still do like my man Morrissey's name for his fans, The Irregular Regulars ha.

Yet your reasoning hasn't evolved beyond that of a teen. That is what's lame. The name was chosen by a fan. Your admonishment of the name is an admonishment of him and any other fans that identify themselves as Live "freaks". Of course you wouldn't get it, you're not a fan. Remember, you asked to be counted out as a fan so your useless opinion doesn't count.

I'm happy for the guy that won, but I feel the name of their new web community is lacking. I was a huge LIVE fan, but I can honestly say I am not anymore.

Freaks was a decent but mostly forgotten LIVE song, and perhaps one of the weakest singles the band ever released. Maybe LakinisJuice.com wasn't such a bad idea after all.

Yeah, we get that, but it's not because of the name of the website or most of the other bs you bring up. It's OK if you are an Ed fan and don't want to accept Live moving on. Really, it's fine. You can make peace with it. Wishing them failure or suggesting that everything they do is horrible is not going to make anything come true though. You can revel all you want in your opinions but at the end of the day the only one you are influencing is yourself.

Not trying to influence anyone, just stating my opinion.

Do you like the website name Tiger?

If you didn't want to have some sort of influence or voice why would you spend so much time on a band you are not a fan of? You don't really offer anything of substance other than to say how much they suck.

As far as the name, it doesn't blow me away, but then what would? I'm waiting further judgement until I see how it is set up and how it incorporates into their overall marketing of Live going forward. Is it horrible? Not even close. I figure it will make more impact when we see it.

I don't necessarily mean it's people you are trying to influence. It's almost as if you are trying to ensure their failure by continually pointing out how horrible they are. No matter how much you say it or believe it, it has no impact at all. Of course, there's the whole other matter of why you need so badly for them to fail but I'll leave that for you to figure out.

Nick, you're arguing here for no reason. Leave it be, leave the board. You're not a live fan.

I thought I had a shot with "straightouttayork.com" and "ecstaticfanatics.com". More so the second one since it was supposed to be used previously for V and does describe us Live fans.

I had a few others but those two I thought were good.

I don't mind FreaksforLive.com - I don't know if the winner reads these boards but congrats nonetheless.

Chad Taylor said on Facebook that http://www.friendsoflive.com would redirect to their new domain, so if you don't like http://www.FreaksForLive.com then you can continue using the old address.

Don't you feel at all weird at the fact you're only here for Ed though? Just stick to his Facebook page. You don't contribute anything in any discussions to do with Live when Ed was a part of it. And you have no interest in Live now that he's not a part of it except to point out what you don't like about it and what they're doing wrong.
