I kind of agree with Nick. I wouldn't exactly call it horrible, but it's not what I would have chosen. When they said that Kiss fans are the "Kiss Army", Gaga fans are "Little Monsters" and that Beiber fans were "Bleibers" or whatever it is, then I guess in that context Live fans being "Freaks" can definitely work. Which I think was their original intention, but as a website URL name its a bit, eh. Freaks4Live or FreaksforLive sounds more like a fan site than an official site. The other way around even, LiveforFreaks sounds better and more official, as in they're saying "we are for YOU" as opposed to fans saying "WE are for you" ... if you get what I mean.
This is probably one of the only areas Nick is qualified to speak on since it has to do with marketing ones self and has nothing to do with music

But that being said, they could have picked a lot worse, it's a bit of a non issue for me, I don't really care either way, it's a name.

Personally I still liked keeping it straightoutayork ... I can't remember what my serious submission even was anymore.

But yeah, freaksforlive to me sounds like its saying "we're the freaks and this is our place for our favorite band Live!" as opposed to, if it were Liveforfreaks its more like "we're Live and we're providing a place for OUR freaks!"

He is qualified to speak on absolutely nothing regarding Live, NOTHING! This is the guy that went on their facebook page and asked to be counted out as a fan. He's been spewing his vitriol for Live for years. Every post is laced with words like, failure, horrible, terrible, etc. They could find a cure for cancer and he'd find something wrong with it.

With that, it's perfectly fine to be critical of Live or anything for that matter. Just have some objectivity. I'm not blown away by the community name, but then again, it's just a name, just a name . In the context of which they are reaching out to Live freaks I think it works. It's pretty much the freaks that are left as fans. I'm looking forward to seeing how they incorporate that going forward and how they reach out to new freaks.

I am going to get crap for this(what else is new), but I think the name is horrible. If it is just for a message board, it may be passable. If it is their new offical website name, it is downright terrible. The name isn't catchy at all, and I would bet the casual Live fan doesn't want to known as a "freak for Live". Friends and Fans of LIVE are much better names, and aren't quite so lame.

What do other people think?

I agree with your point to some extent. I think it seems like they maybe they are trying to hard to generate something like the Kiss Army or Dead Heads, which is supposed to happen organically from the fans up, not the band down. And just as I thought lakini's juice was too limiting because it is one song, I think that the freaks angle is just too one dimensional. I don't want to be known as a freak for Live. I would rather be a fan of Live or a Liveaholic.

We'll see. Maybe this won't be the official website of the band or they have more in store for us than we know. But this could be another one of those instances where they (often Taylor) shoot first and ask questions later.

I don't particularly like the name either. I think it's a very sophomoric, amateurish kind of name. Not a big fan of the word freaks in general. I think that one song could've had a better title.

I think there were better suggestions that tapped into that. And yeah I don't find 'freaks' to be a very flattering or reflective term for the Live community. I get how fans of bands like to call themselves something or other but maybe something a bit more exclusive to the band +Live+ eg 'gas heds' would maybe have made for a more affectionate name for the fanbase.
