QUOTE(dancing queen @ Jul 19 2011, 12:10 pm) *

We invited a longtime friend into the fold. He is a vocalist who is a friend of the +LIVE+ community who was sensitive to our emotions surrounding these songs. I asked myself how it would feel to even perform these songs without Ed. I for one was more hesitant than any fan. I had worked arm in arm with Ed for so many years, I couldn’t imagine that it would feel okay without him. I knew I couldn’t let my filters into the room. I had to be open to the experience. Surprisingly, I was paying little attention to the vocals as I was working hard to recall how to play my own parts. Gracey and Dahlheimer were doing the same. At some point, I began to sing background vocals and I realized, it felt exactly the same. The music was rising above the individuals and it sounded and felt youthful and strong. It is +LIVE+.

- Chad Taylor

Alright, I've been on vacation so I'm catching up.

Live does have a new lead singer (who they are not announcing). Ed and his vocals are completely out of the picture as far as future Live goes.

Because of their expired contracts they have the rights to rerecord any of their old material and release it. I don't see any comment about being able to release old material that is already recorded.

They are rehearsing these old songs, with their new singer, who is a vocalist and friend of the Live community.

I guess vocalists that fit the description and come to mind would be:

Perry Farrell - Jane's Addiction
David Grohl - Foo Fighters
John Popper - Blues Traveler
Adam Duritz - Counting Crows
Chris Daughtry
Hugh Morgan - Fun Lovin Criminals
Bill Janovitz - Buffalo Tom
Ed Roland - Collective Soul
Kevin Martin - TGF / Candlebox
Adam Kowalczyk

I was just about to start a new thread about who could be the new one (you know, a thread without discussing if Ed without CCP is LIVE or if CCP without Ed are Live, or if Ed + CCP would be Live at all anymore, etc. ;;), but just focussing on who the hell the new vocalist can be.

Did Chad hint to someone we know, or just a friend of them. I think all the names Hoodie mentioned are indeed friends of them or are here and there mentioned by them over the years. But (for example) I can't ever see Dave Grohl fronting Live (wheter he leaves the FF's or not) and the same goes for a few others in that list.

Man, who could it be, who would it be!!! All we know it is a "longtime friend" and "a friend of the +LIVE+ community" and some that "was sensitive to our emotions surrounding these songs" (whatever that is supposed to mean).

Any ideas?

I don't think Daughtry fits the bill...he wasn't a member of the Live community during MJ and TC as Chad alluded to, in fact he was probably like 10 years old at best. He also wasn't a longtime friend, in fact who ever heard of him before American Idol?

That being said, out of the list, he'd be the one I'd be most interested in hearing. When they did Mystery on AI, he sang the song better than Ed did.

And I don't know that Chad's description implied that it was anyone who we would already know from another venture...

Hmm, well what I wonder as well, is if they took a vocalist that could front Live for longer, or if they just rehearse now with someone that they can rerecord the old songs with. In that case it can be someone from another band that just takes the job on this moment.

But to be honest, I don't think so. He will probably be just unkown to all of us.

I feel like it must be someone that's known the guys in Live for a long time, like a local from York. Maybe in a local band that we've heard of that has been around for awhile? My mind is blank though right now on what bands were friendly with Live other than The Martini Brothers and I can't even remember what they sound like.

Reread the quote. He just said he is a friend of the Live community who understands it. I'd say Daughtry, a fan of Live before becoming famous, could be considered that.

Honesty I really can't think of why he'd do it, but I actually think he'd make a good fit.

It's me. Sorry, I just couldn't contain it any longer. I've been invited to sing with CCP and to help resurrect Live.

As for you Nick, you have been banned for life from all of our shows.

If Dave Grohl became the new singer of Live i would literally jizz in my pants! Although it would mean Live would no longer be "our" band, as they would surely become a household name and every stupid motherfucker would claim it's their favourite band. The reason i would be in favour of grohl, apart from the awesome voice, is he's really matured and evolved as a songwriter. A song like Walk from the new foo's album shows a sensitivity to the inner turmoil of all human beings and is as passionate and introspective as any Live song. But what Grohl has over Ed (at least now days) is he knows how to be goofy and just have fun with music too. I'm totally positive its not him, but man that would totally fucking rock kicking.gif
