It is not a temptation. It is THEIR songs. Why shall they avoid playing them?

It's their bread & butter and I can't argue that fact. Who knows maybe the singer will make the song their own and add a new touch? I guess we'll all have to adjust and roll with the punches. Just break us in slowly...

You know what would be great? I hope they went down to Tenn. and just put a anonymous add in the local paper that simply says "Band looking for lead singer. Contact to audition."

It would be great if they hit paydirt and that's how they found the new voice to restart Live.

I just hope that Gary Cherone isn't the new lead singer of Live. lol.gif

He is busy touring with Hurtsmile, but let me ask you... one thing. Why not? Another Van Halen relation? Than let me lmao. IF not - then why not?

I remember being overskeptical about TGF. I did not like Candlebox (started trying with Into The Sun), but damn, when I heard the first song, let me tell you it all went vice versa and another thing... I started lOVING Candlebox smile.gif

Yes, it was a Van Halen joke.

By the way, do you know that there is a whole website dedicated to the David Lee Roth Army? It's true. There is a DLR Army. And that site got more traffic than this place 25 years after DLR was in Van Halen. http://www.rotharmy.com/forums/forum.php I just popped over to that forum and there are currently 440 users online in the forum! The people on there are hilareous and nuts.

Regardless of who the new singer is I think the best thing will be the renewed energy the band brings to any recordings or concerts that they do. That's already evident with TGF.

I'm sure that if they release something, or go on tour, without Ed they're going to bring it LARGE to prove to Ed, themselves, and the fans that Ed is not bigger than Live.

That's something to be excited for! rockin.gif

They do not have to PROVE anything, Hoodie (sorry, never really knew your name btw). They MUST do one thing. Enjoy LIVE.

Just to throw this out there. I have seen both Ed and TGF live.

Live is and will always be my favorite band and Ed may have been the face of the band but the music behind the voice is what made the music.

I was so upset when Ed played Live songs (which he has every right to play) not because of his voice but because the music just wasn't the same without CCP.

So if the Chads and Pat can bring back Live's music with a new lead singer I'm all for it.

The thing about "New Live" that I'll struggle with though would be someone else singing Eds words. For example, Gas Hed came from whatever fucked up region of Eds mind that it did, so when he sings it you know it came from him. When someone else sings it.. They're just basically reading outloud a book that someone else wrote. That personal intimate touch of the singer expressing themselves would be gone for me on a lot of songs.

I'm neither massively for or against a new singer, I'm just open to see what happens. But sinceLive was such a personal thing to me there is a mix of emotions, some of which are positive and some are negative. The good thing is we'd pretty much only hear the songs that CCP had a part in, pre 2000. That's good! And new songs written by them and a lead singer I could handle too.. They're good enough to not pick someone that will be terrible.. I hope. But still it'll take a lot for it to still truly be Live to me. Yes other bands have done it, but I've never liked any of those bands to begin with. Hell infact I have never been able to stand AC/Dc, Van Halen or INXS. So those examples mean Nothing to me, I know they've remained a commercial success but I don't give a shit about that.
So to me a new Live may sound amazing but I might have to refer to them as "Chad Taylor's Cavelcade of Fun" instead because truly being Live is a massive task.

I don't get why. If Ed was forced out I could see you're point, but he left Live and could care less if it died. No, it will not be what you grew up with but Live is alive and well and it will have a new voice.

And I doubt they'll be playing the "Ed" songs. I'd assume they'd play the stuff they had a big part in writing.

Adding to my last comment ...

Ed's already out there playing Live stuff without Live. I have no problem with Live going out and playing Live stuff without Ed.

Ed didn't write the bass lines, the drum beats, and all the riffs to all the songs he's playing. That's no different than Live playing songs that Ed sang without him. If he can replace their instruments they can replace his voice and they will.

The Live covers Ed is playing just sound horrible musically. Ed is kind of Ed, but the rest is just shit.

Personally right now I'd rather hear Live playing their songs without Ed over Ed playing Live songs without Live.
