Nick, are you going to post your list or what?

We want to see if you are a real fan of Live's late stuff or just a faker.

Pretty sure I admitted that until I knew your name was Ray I thought you were a girl with the name Mer-cee-a. As I never made the connection, to be honest sometimes, you know, just as a treat, I still pretend you're a girl wink.gif

Yeah, you're quite the charmer. hehe.gif

SS
Throwing Copper (very close second but nothing tops SS for me)
Mental Jewelry
TDTH
V
BoP
SFBM (but really this one shouldn't even be on my list, I never even bought it, that's how much I dislike it)

Mental Jewelry - I can still remember hearing this album for the first time and thinking holy shit these guys are from my hometown. Raw, emotional and filled with energy.

Throwing Copper - For me it was their best album from beginning to end. Classic.

SS - The riff from LJ had me hooked from first listen. Their label was actually making the right decisions on which songs to release as singles...

TDTH - Matured. A band hitting it's peak, but little did I know or expect what was to follow...

V/BOP - Call me a Fool still makes me cringe and I avoid that album for fear it will find me when my iPod is on shuffle. Between the two there are a couple of good songs, but that's about it. I was still hopeful that this was not the end and that C,C and P could kick Ed in the pants to get his shit together.

No. I really wish it could be permanently removed from Live's discography. CC&P should give back the 20$ they made from album sales so Ed can claim at his own. Actually...Ed probably already stole that 20$ w/ his secret contract so we'll call it even. I still breathe a sigh of relief that CC&P hated SFBM as much as the rest of us.

Oh man.. this reminds me of when Nick made a big deal about CCP making fun of some song off SFBM in concert..

Seriously though, can you blame them? I would have felt like a village idiot up there too bopping around to those songs. uhoh.gif

1.Secret Samadhi - Completely raw and filled with passon.
2.TDTH - the total package. Hits both ends of the spectrum between rock and the lighter side of Live.
3.Throwing Copper - just flawless. I can only imagine what it would have been like if it included Hold Me Up and Susquehanna.
4.Mental Jewelry - a great album that showcases their talents on different tracks. Drums, bass, lead guitar and vocals are all showcased.
5.BOP - Solid. Few good songs. Lots of average ones. Not really any just flat out awful ones (subjective)
6.V - Different but still okay. I think Overcome is an epic song.
7.Someone beating a baby with a cat. - hurts my ears. Makes me frustrated and angry. I hate cats and I love babies but not screaming ones.
8.SFBM - fuck this.

1. MJ- Kids that age aren't supposed to make a record like that, lyrically and musically. If I was on a desert island and could only have 1 CD the rest of my life, this is it.

2. TC- Shows I saw on this tour we're some of my favorite. What can u say about this disc that hasn't already been said. Classic.

3. TDTH- A masterpiece. As we all know, how much better would this have been w/ Vine Street, Don't Wait and Still Aroused?

4. SS- Guitars, guitars, guitars baby!! But some things on here just don't fit right.

5- BOP- Knowing there would never be a TC2, this represented the hope of returning to an edgier sound and more up tempo songs. Tour also gave hope of return to past. Keyboards gone!

6. V- Deep Enough is listenable and Simple Creed is tolerable, the rest of it I would play to torture terrorists in our custody.

7. SFBM- Musical abortion. Don't mean to offend anyone by using term abortion, just lack of a better word at the moment.

Thanks OTD. A toast indeed my friend! Haven't been on much the last few months, good to hear from ya.

Unfortunately I see in another thread the The White Shadow is stirring things up as usual. Probably a pretty old reference for some around here, so here's a link to The White Shadow. If you read down to the Stroryline Section on there, replace the word friend with Dad. eyebrow.gif

As for Songs From Brokeback Mountain? I'm with Chad on that one. That should rightfully be considered Ed's actual debut solo album. I will not include it in ANY of the above lists. It would be pointless to do so any way as it would be at the FAR bottom of any of the four lists above.

1. Throwing Copper - It's all been said before.
2. The Distance to Here - Ed's masterpiece and, for me, a unique record that offers inspiration and a sound that no other album on the planet even comes close to.
3. Secret Samadhi - I probably don't give this album enough props and that's just because first two get spun just that little bit more, and are a little bit more openly accessible, to me. But still, this album is pure art. Some breathtaking songs. Ghost, Gas Hed Goes West... pure ART. And of course, MERICA~~!~!~!
4. Mental Jewelry - A great album that showed their amazing talents at such annoyingly tender age. By the time they were made age, I think they'd made this album? The bastards!

...

5. V - I appreciate that it's lyrically trashy, but I quite like a lot of it. A guilty pleasure, I guess.
6. Birds of Pray - I rarely play this, to be honest. Just really not all that memorable. Even Like I Do isn't as good as people profess it to be, in my opinion.
7. Songs From Black Mountain - Well, yeah. Apart from Show, which I have a soft spot for, this is even more forgettable than BoP and massively further away from what we want Live to be musically.

...

I'm not sure how to fit in the rest of the material, to be honest. To me, only Alive and TGF are on the same wavelength. Comparing live CDs and compilations etc, I don't think is quite right. But I can hazard a guess that, after a significant length of time given to see if the albums stand up, TGF will jump into the top section, and Alive will nestle into the bottom.
