I've seen/heard enough LIVE songs in my lifetime. I have tons of recordings, why would I care to trade old music.

Classic LIVE is great, but nothing is better than hearing a new song for the first time.

Nick, what they would be releasing are new songs. They may have been recorded back when Throwing Copper and SS were made, however YOU have never heard them. Only a select few people have heard those songs, and there are many of them!
So you would be hearing a NEW song for the FIRST TIME.

Your an educator? read the damn words, take a minute and comprehend what they mean before making stupid comments.

He is a PE teacher. Do not try to make him read the words and understand them.

Damn, another point. Nick is acting the way for us to make a stereotype of a PE teacher. Too bad. My PE teacher at school was grand.

I've never been to a Live show. Ergo, I'm not a proper fan.

Seen The Gracious Few, though...

Curiously how will the songs be released without Ed and Radioactive signing off on them? Doesn't Radioactive have control of LIVE b-sides from that era(hence Hold Me Up not being released for Zack and Miri).

Gee, I don't know, maybe the same way that Photograph and Mallrat were released?

Sounds to me like the Churchbox release is in full swing with mastering on the way. Could it possibly be that the people in the band know more about what they can release than you do? I have assumed that getting that clearance is what caused the hold up in the first place.

I'm guessing only certain songs will be available for release? Something like Hold Me Up will still be tied to radioactive?

What do you care anyways? You probably don't want to hear it, just want to know how well it will chart and if Ed gets money from it.

Its not going to chart, heck it may not even be sold. No one even knows if and what will actually be released.

If Ed is supposedly not speaking to them, I wonder how they got him to sign off on the material.

Does anyone know what the songs of the Churchbox Sessions actually are?

We discussed this before when we were talking about MUSIC as opposed to sales figures, maybe you should pay attention to those topics too.

My theory was that since the Churchbox sessions happened before they went to Jamaica that songs like Unsheathed, Heropsychodreamer (I think) and Lakini's Juice may not be included as by the sounds of what CT said they were written and done whilst in Jamaica. We don't have a definitive list, but we know for sure there's the version of Ghost with an organ, Mallrat and Photograph obviously. I'd hazard a guess at possibly Freaks, Rattlesnake, Century, Gas Head, Turn My Head all being on there.

This doesn't apply to every song, and certainly not for the more recent releases from Live.

Perhaps some of you share this very same experience as me. Back in 2005, I sat in anticipation of the forthcoming album Songs from Black Mountain. I had read numerous interviews and articles where Ed stated, "rock fans and old-school Live fans will love this new album. It is classic Live and really rocks."

My friend and I had just finished watching a ball game and found out that some online streaming radio site was going to be playing their new single The River. I said to myself, "wow, that's a cool title for a new song. It definitely has a classic Live sound so maybe this will finally be what I've been waiting for since V and Birds of Pray." Boy was I wrong.

We all know how the song starts. A bunch of "la la las and da da das." We both laughed heartedly at another failed effort from Ed and turned it off. To this day, I cannot stand 90% of Sounds from Black Mountain. It is very sad that was their last official album release. It's sort of like a star player whose sun has set who doesn't know when to say good-bye and retire. Live was much better off closing shop after V even though that was a terrible album as well.

Anyways, all I can say is that there are plenty of things better than hearing a new song for the first time. Especially when it comes to post-TDTH Live songs.

This was close to my first experience with The River. with BOP whilst it was mostly a miss, there were still elements that maybe they were starting to try and find something. They'd lost their way, not exactly come back with a bang but it at least kept some hope. So when Ed was talking up SFBM I thought that maybe it was time. Then the sample of The River leaked and a friend of mine from the board here heard it first and texted me and I still remember the text, it just said "its a pop song, it's god damn Savage Garden". I downloaded it and I think the colour must have drained from my face when I heard "la da da da".

However, the last "new" Live songs I heard were Mallrat and Photograph and they both blew me away. Mallrat especially, that song is seriously in my top few Live songs. So that's why I'm psyched about this release even if it is good quality demos of songs we have heard, at least I know that there is no way in hell I can be disappointed.
