Ed is FULL OF CRAP here. You think Pink Bop or any large festival like that would contact a major act like LIVE at the last minute?

Yes if another major act backed out, it is very likely that a Festival would contact someone to fill their slot.

Calling BS on that one. If TGF did so much better than Ed on tour, why is Ed still touring and CCP looking to ressurrect LIVE?

Because Ed tours with session musicians who are replaceable and who are basically hired help. TGF consists of an actual band who some members already have other things going on in their lives besides one primary focus.

Let's make the answer to that a multiple choice.

A. Only of of the two of them is a whore.

B. Only one of the two allocates all of the money to the lead singer and pays the rest of the band minimum wage.

C. Only one of the two is strip-mining the Live catalog for every dollar it can produce.

D. Only one of them doesn't have band members with other conflicting date commitments.

E. All of the above.

The one fact that The Thrill left out is that TGF concerts cost 10 dollars, while Ed shows averaged in the 20-25 dollar range. I would bet that the gate for any Ed K. concert was higher than the majority of TGF's shows(similar venue or not).

That said, neither act has lit the world on fire in the US. Where Ed has outshone TGF is his ability to tour successfully in other countries.

Or Ed has actually outworked TGF with touring and trying to find a fanbase. It would be interesting to compare how many shows have been played by either act since the split.

I agree that Ed has out-hustled TGF and that his ticket prices are higher and he is still able to get head-count through the door at higher ticket prices. And he is touring as Ed from Live playing mostly Live songs. Advantage Ed. I would go see Chris Cornell but I wouldn't go see a band with the rest of Soundgarden. I saw David Lee Roth in concert and he played classic VH songs and I closed my eyes and pretended I was still in high school. TGF doesn't even promote themselves as coming from Live and Candlebox. They never say it in a show. They don't play any of the songs. They started over, trying to make it on their own merits.

But blah, blah, blah. Ticket sales. Album sales. Who is hustling more. Who has an advantage. Who has hit a higher spot on the charts... Who cares. Give me good music. Good music and shows I can drive to and shoot with my camera and watch and enjoy. If Ed's next album actually sounds like Mental Jewelry, I will tatoo his name on my arm and follow him like a groupie. If TGF keeps making music and playing concerts like they did the first time around, I will continue to be among their biggest and most loyal fans.

So you don't agree that Ed has outworked TGF when it comes to touring? Interested in hearing your opinion.

My comment had nothing to do with Ed vs TGF, there is always going to be someone somewhere who tours more than you do. You stated what you saw was the reason TGF were trying to resurrect Live and why they weren't touring as much as Ed. I gave you the absolute basic facts, Ed tours with session musicians, his own personal schedule is the only thing that needs to be looked out for, this was evident when the monkey-drummer couldn't make some gigs and so someone else was readily able to step in.
TGF can't do that, they equally have their own parts and are not replaceable. So when someone has to fulfill other commitments the band has to take a break. That's got nothing to do with who works harder or who is trying to outdo who to build a fan base, it is just the way the 2 acts work differently.
Having time between tours was just a perfect chance for them to work on what they can't whilst touring, but hey feel free to think of it as some type of conspiracy or as proof that they're somehow not as wonderful as Ed, or however your fucked up brain works.

Maybe CCP shouldn't have picked a lead singer with a commitment to another more established band?

You know what I find funniest Fish. Nick was the one who originally came up with the whacked out fucked up idea that TGF were trying to "split the fan base" and take numbers away from Ed. As evidence with his wonderful "TGF are copying Ed by asking fans to 'like' them on facebook!" thread.
Yet all I ever see is Nick being the one comparing stats, figures and dollars. It is just proof to show how his mind works, how he views the world is just utterly different to how everyone else does.
I honestly don't think either Ed nor TGF are trying to take fans away from each other, and any negative remarks made by CCP about Ed in public were personal. In Nick's mind he see's it coming down to sales. I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks at the end of each week that TGF get printed out reports on Ed's album sales and ticket sales and get to trying to figure out how to turn the tide. I don't think anyone thinks this way besides his completely messed up brain.

Ed has out toured yes, but his branding of Ed from Live and Ed of Live..........is his last gasp to get as much as he can.....to pokey's point.

and for the matter....his branding at shows I take issue with.

He should be Ed formerly of Live, ex lead singer of Live

Why the fuck shouldn't they? Maybe this works perfectly for them, maybe they're enjoying the break and doing things in their own time now. Not everyone marches to the same beat.

If they do get a new lead singer for Live, he'll pretty much have to as anything other than that wouldn't be true.
