I wonder if Carl let him go because of his voice issues. They are looking for a replacement lead singer according to Alternativeaddiction.com

I didn't know Fuel still existed...didn't they make that Shimmer song or whatever and then fall off the face of the Earth?

i don't think he was let go. he has been in another band (The X's) for a little while now, playing bass and singing background vocals. i think a lot of people figured that's what happened, but the band couldn't announce anything yet for legal reasons, according to Carl. i really hope they change their name because if they get a new singer and continue as a band, that's not the Fuel everyone knows. it's like ed leaving Live but the band still using the same name. they need to just start a new project with a new name.

If Ed leaves LIVE Adam can take over and they can be called Adam and the Live......hopefully not for a long time though. smile.gif

Brett pretty much left the band last fall, but Chookie's right, there was legal stuff in the way.

He was not 'let go'.

And, um, no after 'Shimmer' on Sunburn they went on to have 2 other very sucessful albums - Something Like Human (A little song called Hemorhage/In My Hands for example) and Natural Selection (Falls on Me, Won't Back Down)

The Fuel they were will always hold a big place in my heart and i really think it sucks that Carl doesnt want a new name for what's basically gonna be an all new line up without Kevin and Brett.

/end rant

Something like Human was a very successful album. Natural Selection was a big-time flop which caused the band to pretty much break-up. I'm sure Bret wouldn't leave Fuel to become the bass player in a band called X if his voice wasn't shot.

If INXS, Journey etc can tour without their lead singer, why should Fuel change their name? Bret was a processed voice during the last tour......maybe a singer who can actually sing will make Fuel a strong concert act again. I saw them at the Borgata last November and thought they were extremely dull.......the change can only help in my opinion.

Being a huge Fuel fan, this is sad news to me. sad.gif I love all their cds.

I know in the next few months Brett's band, The X's, will be in Philly. I'm hoping to catch that show.

I agree that Fuel will not be the same without Brett and Kevin and that Carl should start fresh with a new name. I'm looking forward to seeing what he's working on though.
