Agreed. I always come on here hoping to see a thread like "Hold Me Up high quality version leaked".

This is a cool thread!

I think Rattlesnake should have been the first single from SS. Century, Lakini's Juice and TMH should have followed. Gas Head is one of my top 5 songs all time but I'm not sure how it would have done as a single.

Hold Me Up or Vine Street could have been great first singles for TDTH if they'd been on the album (I think HMU fits TDTH better than SS). Then I'd put out TDC. Meltdown, Sparkle or WFG could have been singles after that. I have never been crazy about RTTW. I'd have released DWY before that one.

It's hard to pick any from V. I wish Overcome had been the full band version. I love a lot of the music from this cd, I just wish Ed had gone in a different direction with the lyrics. The riff from Simple Creed was awesome. Better lyrics could have made that a hit single. Flow could have worked as well.

SFBM was pretty horrible. I'd have gone with the louder guitars version of The River. Then maybe Night of Nights. That's it.

I hope someday we can discuss what songs should be singles on a new LIVE album.

I just spent about 10 minutes trying to justify different songs on SFBM that could be singles. I failed. They are all either average or below average. None of them are single worthy.

Live should release an album that is Hold Me Up for tracks 1-10 with a hidden track that is also Hold Me Up. That would be the best CD ever.

Oddly enough "Alive" has more single worthy songs than SFBM. Maybe CCP WERE bringing Live down.... whistle.gif

Turn My Head was a single, but when they released it they should have promoted it way more. I think it could have been way bigger of a hit then it actually was.

I only heard it on the radio one time.

This. And what's worse is it cost them money/fame in multiple ways.

First, had it been released as part of the Mallrats movie as originally intended, it would have been a big song, not only because it is great, but because of the cult status of the movie.

Second, they could have added it to Secret Samadhi at that point as a "bonus track". "Gel" from Collective Soul was first a hit on the Jerky Boys soundtrack before it was on Collective Soul. It fit that record, however. Lit added "Over My Head" to Atomic as a bonus track at the end of the tracklist after it was a hit for Titan AE. Chris Cornell added "You Know My Name" to Carry On as a bonus track at the end of the tracklist after it was a hit Bond Movie theme. Hell, STP released "All in the Suit That You Wear" as the "new" track on Thank You, their greatest hits album. It was rejected for the Spiderman soundtrack in favor of "Hero". They put it out and it charted. Live could have easily done this.

Instead, they never released it.

They could have released it as the "new" song on Awake: The Best of Live, like STP did, but instead went with "We Deal in Dreams".

The could have added it as a new song on Live at the Paradiso, capitalizing on the release of Zack and Miri Make a Porno just a week and a half earlier, but instead included "Forever" and "Purify," and did not allow its inclusion on the soundtrack.

FINALLY, they could have released it as a lead single on a b-sides album. Cut your costs by releasing it only digitally, and there you go. What's worse is they featured the song on their last tour. WTF? Why not release it as a single to radio and iTunes, then?

Instead, they limited their income by not doing ANY of this AND they've forced their fans--who would have bought a whole record just for the song--to listen to a really shitty quality copy.

Kudos, guys.

Do you think Live just don't give a fuck about Hold Me Up? Do they even know how good it is? I can't wrap my mind around that song never being released.

If they really cared, they could leak it.

"But they are the artists and deserve royalties off of it!"
And time after time after time, they said no. Whether it was just Ed or just the label or all of them or whatever, they repeatedly botched every great opportunity to put this out and make the money they deserve off of it.

So why not release it?? Through an anonymous leak, if there are legal issues. CCP have the ability to do this, and the whole Churchbox Sessions is already a mess (thanks, Chad, can I have my homespun subscription money back please? Oh, the lanyard is $30? My bad, I guess that makes sense when pendants cost $100).

It's fucking sad.

CCP, just leak the fucking song already. How many fans love and adore your music? How great a gesture would this be? Just fucking leak it. Flakes.

Maybe Kevin Smith (or someone who has access to his computer) will leak Hold Me Up one day. He's gotta own a copy from Zack and Miri.

I saw an interview with ED, it was recent, and he said he don't plan on releasing Hold Me Up any time soon. ED said well you can find it on youtube, basically he thinks it makes it more cool or something that you have to search for it err something like that. I just want a clean studio good quality version for it. i also want a GOOD studio version of Cheetah. Cheetah could have been a hit too....none of my friends (who are live fans) have never even heard of Cheetah, but they have all heard of hold me up.

Exactly. There have been countless opportunities to release the track so that it would make the band money, give them recognition and get the track out to the masses and every time they've given us the middle finger. When they finally relent and let 30 seconds of the track into the 'Zack and Miri' movie they then shoot themselves in the foot by not allowing it to be on the soundtrack.
Are you serious? Who's advising this band?

If anybody from the band is reading this here are some basic instructions on how to leak a track:

1. Go to http://www.sendspace.com
2. Press the "Browse" button
3. Select the file you want to upload from your hard drive
4. Press the "Upload File" button
*** You will then see a "Download Link" on the screen ***
5. Copy the link and send it far and wide (or just post it here on the forum)

Do not get me wrong, fellas, I ADORE HMU... but would it really have been THAT of a hit? Would it smash the radio right now or back when that movie (pretty hillarious if you ask me) was released?

I seriously doubt that.

If it was released when Zack and Miri was out? Unlikely
If it was released when Mallrats was out [1995]? I think so. It would have extended the popularity of Throwing Copper.

But I don't think it's important whether it would have been commercial hit or not. I just want to hear the track - and the poor excuses given over the years for holding it back are just that. Poor.
