Have I mentioned how great it is to watch Paradiso on my 123" Stewart Firehawk G3 theater screen, projected from my Sony 1080p projector, blasting all around me on my Definitive Technology speakers, amplified on my Denon receiver, in the comfort of my soft leather theater seats?

...I too have a television sad.gif

except I use mine to plank on.

It's like bring there.

Hah agreed. It was filmed in HD so why not. I'd love to see that on my humble 52" Philips tv, Monitor Audio 5.1 surround set, amplified by my Marantz receiver. tongue.gif

Ha ha! Now THAT's funny. I would not have known what "plank" meant, except that it was the big story on the Philadelphia NBC 10 news last night.

I didn't mean to show off with my post. I hope it didn't come off as arrogant. I was just trying to paint a picture with my description. I get so much pleasure out of watching movies in my theater, and the Live concert DVD - we waiting so long to come out with one and I am so glad they did before it all ended. The DVD isn't perfect, but I love watching it in the theater.

Ah that comment from the blog, yeah kind of heartrenching, but it details the 'drama' at the time. I bet that production event was absolutely nuts.

I'd like to know if you suffered from whiplash after the TGF show at the Chameleon. Everytime I look at the videos, you are in maniac mode. rockin.gif

Just re-reading chads reply to our letter again, seems there were massive problems prior to the shooting of this DVD. As heartbreaking as it is, it really does make for GREAT reading for a live fan lol.gif

"I made a personal resolution to let Live in Ed’s hands. I no longer responded to emails and I limited my participation in every way possible. I would try and be a professional musician. Show up, play my 12 notes and return home with as little drama as possible. We filmed Live, at the Paradiso in two nights. When I saw the magic that was on camera, I was overcome by emotion. We had documented the energy and efforts of a 20-year career together. The photographs captured it too and they are some of my favorites. When the album artwork showed up with Chad, Patrick and I in black and white and Ed in color it shot pain through my veins but I held back.

For some reason on that tour Ed would complain about the tuning of my guitar each and every night in the dressing room following the show. He would call Patrick at all hours of the night asking if we sounded okay. I had long talks with the techs. I begged someone to give me anything tangible that I could work on or fix. The board tapes sounded fine but the constant complaining was driving me mad. It was sucking the life out of me on stage. Ed demanded that we return to having a keyboardist, as it would be easier for him to sing to “solid” notes. I agreed and suggested a few options. At this point I was reaching for anything that would change the tension and heal the dynamic between Ed and the band."

From what I understand (conisdering the rest Chad wrote in the reply) we are quite lucky the keyboardist left (or didn't enter) the band yet when the show was shot. I prefer Live's set they did in Paradiso much more then with some strange keyboardsounds made by a member that doesnt feel like a member anymore).

Also, I understand why C,C,P absolutely hated the artwork for the LATP dvd. But how could they possibly agree with that. And who decided to put Ed oin colour and the rest "like a backing band" on the background?

The best thing to happen to Railo was his drug addiction, as it got him kicked out of Live. His horrible keyboards just about ruined everything great about Lakini's Juice.

I watched Live at Paradiso on the big screen last night. My recommendation to everyone is NOT to watch that concert DVD unless you are ready to have your heart ripped out. Feelings of mourning and sadness, combined with anger and resentment. Wishing I could see it all again someday in the future. Sorry that the music changed after 1999. Admiration for the musical chemistry. Respect for CCP digging deep into their souls and grinding out TGF from the same place that I Alone and Lakini's Juice and I Walk The Line came from. Wondering what Ed would think if he watched it. Oh well. Now excuse me while I go bang my head into a wall and then try to go on with my day.

I tried watching it last week. I'd say with the camera work it's pretty much unwatchable. I wish they would have done a DVD during the SS Tour.
