It will be interesting. It will create a bigger divide between CCP fans and Ed fans if they acquire a new lead. Either they are successful (subjective, I know) and the CCP effect is obvious and Ed fans finally realize how important they were or they fail (subjective, I know) and Ed fans will say Ed was the reason for their original success.

That is sort of what is happening now with Ed vs. TGF

I say apples and oranges but whatever. Give me "Hold Me Up" and I will be happy for life. Make sure it is the "Ed Version" though.

I could see the new Live coming out with an album in 3 years with that as the single. tongue.gif

I think CCP should audition some new singers.... maybe like that one show years ago with Slash and his new band???...then I could at least sing one fucking song with Patrick, Chad and Chad!! AKA +LIVE+ lol.gif kicking.gif hi.gif nod.gif

Youre onto something there, zman....put that in ct's ear. The slash record with the different singers was a nice refreshing idea. Loved it.

Between this and the "Ed does not plan to rejoin LIVE" thread I guess the "hiatus" is officially a break-up.

Sadly, a new Live with a new lead still isn't Live. It is the Live fan that loses no matter what new bands pop up. TGF is awesome but it isn't Live. Ed is doing his thing but it isn't Live. Fuel wasn't Fuel. Journey isn't Journey. AiC isn't AiC. The list goes on.

1+1+1+1 = Live. It was great while it lasted.

I would love to hear what new music they want to release under the Live brand (although I'm not sure how and if it will be that different from TGF - wasn't that the energy they wanted to put in Live for yeaers?)

But I fear the outside world will think they do it only for the money, just to profit from the bandname. But f*ck the outside world. They'll at least hear it's not just the simple pop-rock formula.

Like I said before:

No new lead singer will ever replace Ed. No new lead singer should ever sing the old Live catalog with CCP as Live. It won't work. I won't stand for it.

So where do we go from here? Can Live go on without Ed? Well CCP are Live. They own it. They are still Straight Outa York. So there is only one way forward from here. Just do what you do together as a three man band, guys. New Nashville Sound. Front porch sessions. Start around the Delaware Valley with some shows. You're doing it for yourselves and for the fans. So the three of you should do it. That's the only way.

In case anyone was wondering - Ed left Live, high and dry. Live did not get rid of him. Right there in Chad's words.

Live as we knew it will never be again. If Live respawns I hope it's with an unknown singer, not a retread. Problem is, if it goes well the singer might also look to go solo and make it big because he's not really tied to the band by history.

I'd actually be interested if they went the Santana route and had songs that they wrote with various "guest" singers, and had one singer who toured with them and sang it all in concert (will never happen though).

Either way it will be more like Live (Version II) to me.
