When Nick gets backed into the corner with his rationalizations that Ed's new band makes the Live songs sound refreshed and awesome....he attacks TGF. God you're such a knobslobber nick. Glad you enjoy Ed. Enjoy him to the last drop.

I enjoy Ed with his new band. I enjoyed Live too. You are the one comparing, not me. I just see a lot of sour grapes on FansofLive now that Ed is doing well touring solo.

If what he's doing now constitutes doing well then good luck to him. Take away the LIVE aspect to his shows and he's got nothing. I guess he can keep milking it but it won't last forever.

He is the front man of Live and is allowed to perform the songs in concert. I'd rather hear Live material in concert, than have the songs die with the band.

THis proves that you can't let go of a band that is truly over. Move on son. If Ed can't be the solo artist he wanted to be, gave ultimatum to leave to become that, swindle and stab his friends, fall back on his past and not promote his new material(yes he's allowed to do this), easy way out and easy way to sell tickets.....well he's got one up on all of you. But, that will only last so long. If his band is butchering those classics, well then he's going to die a quick death performing those songs, the audiences will dwindle to nothing as his band will never be able to carry the cash cow far.

IF Ed came out with something angry hard edged and a page from MJ & TC, I'd buy it. I don't buy that his life status has changed his demeanor and emotion that much that he can't be that singer again. Listen, I have a rather large collection of concerts to draw and say he's gone the way of a dried up cowpattie in a pennsylvania field.

Ed is touring heavily and putting on great shows.

Live is currently dead, and TGF is on break for summer. Ed is the only game in town.

So, we're supposed to run chanting give us Ed, give us Ed, give us Ed?

Only game in town? Maybe your town, your surname. Stay the fuck out of my town.

QUOTE(Pokey @ May 30 2011, 1:13 am) *

I saw Bob Dylan last month, I had no real expectations. I was more waiting for Elvis Costello who was after. But I don't mind Bob Dylan. Anyways he was SHIT. Like embarrassingly bad, he sounded like a poor man's Tom Waits. He could barely play his harmonica and his singing was atroucious. His band which are usually a light backing tune type affair to let his lyrics shine were instead electrified, very messy sounding and way too loud. Now the thing is there are people who waited a LONG time for that gig. The general consensus afterwards was that he was very disappointing.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeee, give the old man a break! HE is 100500 years old!

The only sour grapes is that a lot of people don't believe Ed deserves any respect. Both by his actions towards his former band mates and the fans but because of the desocration of the history of Live and with the quality of his performances. If Ed had my respect I'd still like to see him do well even if I wasn't digging the new music. However he's lost a lost of respect and artistic integrity in a lot of people's eyes.

Nick you seem to think Ed is "the only game in town", man you really need to expand your taste in music.
If Ed took away a big chunk or all of the Live aspect to his shows then of course his success would suffer, but I'd at least think he'd gain a bit of respect. But it's easy to see why Nick idolizes Ed, they both hold economic priorities well above artistic ones.

Wrong. Ed isn't Live, wasn't Live and will never be Live. There are 3 other people that made up Live that have been and continue to be willing and able to continue Live but Ed wants no part of it. Or more like, he wants all parts of it. You just don't get it.

The other 3 parts of LIVE ripped Ed a part publicly and wanted nothing to do with him. Only once TGF's US tour wasn't as successful as they envisioned, and Kevin started touring with Candlebox again, did CCP start pushing for a LIVE reunion.

Ed and CCP did not get along at all towards the end of LIVE's run. Watching LIVE in concert in 2009 was borderline painful. If Ed is happy touring solo, why should be go back to a bad situation?

Just admit once and for all that you are not, nor have you ever been a Live fan, and that you have always only been an Ed fan.

It was only bad because the other 3 finally said enough is enough. They should have a voice in Live. They've tried everything to get through to Ed including ripping him a new one publicly, all in the name of Live and their lifelong friendship. They stood beside him as he wrested control of Live and would still welcome him back as a friend and bandmate after all that has happened. Your distorted, selfish view of this seems to echo Ed's and a few marginal fans that don't know what is going on. True fans of Live know better. You and Ed and those with their head in the sand can continue with your blissful ignorance but the truly enlightened realize that ignorance is just ignorance.

And once again, you don't give a damn what Ed did to them privately to incur that public lashing, just so long as Ed is never exposed as the bad guy right?
It's all about protecting Ed's precious image so that he can sell more albums and draw bigger crowds because Ed getting paid is the single most important thing.
Ed deserved every bit of the ripping apart that he got.

He doesn't want to go back to a "bad situation" because now he doesn't have to feel guilty about it being the Ed Show. Going back will mean giving up some of the power and entering back into a partnership where it's not all about him. That's why he doesn't want to go back.
