I feel sorry for C,C,P and anyone who was a fan of Live (not just EK). You'd have to be a huge fan of EK to be oblivious to the difference between this and Live. Just terrible.

Saw Ed perform 3 times this month, and all the shows were awesome. If certain people don't like the new band that's fine, but I think that they do a good job. They all have a much stronger stage presence now than they did last year and the LIVE songs sound good in concert.

Live was awesome. but I don't think that they are coming back any time soon. Ed is touring the entire summer worldwide and is planning his second album for 2012.

Unless they sound markedly different than the 3 videos in this thread they are not good. Perhaps if you never heard them performed by the band that created them, then I suppose they could be good. Or if you are only listening to the vocals then they could be good maybe. Otherwise they are terrible versions of once great songs. I'd bet that every person at that show was there because of their familiarity with the original versions of those songs created by Live, not what EK has done since.

I would also say that judging from crowd reaction, that the majority of people in attendance at the shows I attended really enjoyed the new versions of the songs.

Yeah, like I said, huge EK fans oblivious to the fact that there was more to LIVE than just EK. How can you not hear how terrible the guitar is in those songs? CT's guitar tone was a huge identity in Live. You could hear the guys passion and soul oozing out of his guitar. It's gone, as well as the foundation of CG and PD. EK would do much better not trying to replicate Live songs. I don't hear anything that makes these "new versions". Sounds to me they're trying their best to sound like Live and falling terribly short.

Ed is touring heavily and putting on great shows.

Live is currently dead, and TGF is on break for summer. Ed is the only game in town.

Fixed it for you. Jeez, you sure have a hard on for Ed.

When Nick gets backed into the corner with his rationalizations that Ed's new band makes the Live songs sound refreshed and awesome....he attacks TGF. God you're such a knobslobber nick. Glad you enjoy Ed. Enjoy him to the last drop.

No kidding. I'm not even trying to Ed bash, that's too easy. lol.gif I clicked on the link to Heaven fully expecting to hear an acceptable version. It is pretty much an Ed song anyway. I could barely get past the opening chords. The guitar is terrible. Same with I Alone. Maybe Adam contributed more than I realized. These seem worse without him.

I saw Bob Dylan last month, I had no real expectations. I was more waiting for Elvis Costello who was after. But I don't mind Bob Dylan. Anyways he was SHIT. Like embarrassingly bad, he sounded like a poor man's Tom Waits. He could barely play his harmonica and his singing was atroucious. His band which are usually a light backing tune type affair to let his lyrics shine were instead electrified, very messy sounding and way too loud. Now the thing is there are people who waited a LONG time for that gig. The general consensus afterwards was that he was very disappointing. However there were people there so emotionally invested that they not only refused to see the bad, they claimed it the greatest gig they've ever seen. These people remind me of Nick, unable to see the obvious. Block it out, too obsessed with the star on the stage that they convince themselves that what they're seeing is amazing because they can't face the alternative.
Because there are just a multitude of reasons stacked up as to why Ed is just putting on terrible shows.

I saw Mr. Dylan about 11 years ago. He had a good performance then. The years have aged him but I hear what you're saying Pokey. That kind of sucks
