Agreed on wishing we had just captured him, but I doubt he would have let that happen anyway.

Remember how fun it was watching Sadam rot in jail? Didn't we find out that he loved Doritos and he was just chilling out in his whitey tighties? That shit was so demeaning and the fate that Bin Laden deserved.

The fact that Bin Laden used to go on about how he'd rather die than live in an American prison just means I'd have rather whichever he'd hate more, hence capture and prison. Thing is unlike Saddam who basically was just in it for himself and wanted to rule shit, hanging out in his underwear all day in prison could have been worse for him. Bin Laden, as horrible as he was, actually had strong albeit misguided beliefs. He wasn't out to make life better for himself. I'd have to believe if he had been captured that he would have probably done whatever he could have to kill himself in prison.

IMO, that would have been pretty sweet. He could kill himself in his underwear while eating Doritos.

In the war on terror (awful term) I don't think this is a really huge deal, but I am glad that he is dead. I don't think I am as glad as some of my fellow Americans, though.

I am proud of our military. They are the best of us.

While the past can't be changed, I hope this provides some sense of closure or justice to the families that lost loved ones due to the actions of Osama. Not just the Twin Towers but the other acts he was responsible for.

"Not dead. Can't quit."

Too convenient timing politically for Obama. Either we've had him in our sights for a while and decided now to pull the trigger, or it was all staged to begin with. Remember, the bin laden's are exceptionally wealthy and in bed big time with the Bushes and other US politicians. There was a reason we didn't get him until now, and he likely had little to do with 9/11 anyway. But, it gives the dumb fucks in our country who are pissed off about how bad it's starting to suck here something to feel good about for a few months. USA! USA! USA!

I am so impressed with how americans sincerely believe that Bin Laden was in charge of all the biggest terrorist troubles over the last years.

I don't think that most Americans believe that. 9/11? Sure. Everything else? Eh, not really.

And who knows how much Bin Laden was involved with 9/11, but we know that he took responsibility for it. It is more of a symbolic victory than an actual one, but I don't think that makes it less important for the American people.

As for it being great timing politically, great timing politically would have been a year from now. The 2012 election is too far away for it to be all about political timing. That is an easy claim to make though, because no matter when it happened it would boost poll numbers.

If you argue that by it happening now that Obama "wants to get re elected" then you could say by the same token that Bush obviously didn't want to get re elected. I think anyone looking at it like it's a political stunt of any kind is just being silly. I'm sure Obama is thrilled at the timing, but what funky said is right.

Haha, oh I know, there are a lot of idiots everywhere and plenty enough here.

Most of the Muslims I know are plenty happy that OBL bit the dust. Like myself, they would have preferred we capture him, but dude killed a lot of Muslims too. They aren't any more fond of radical Islam than anyone else is.

I'm a fairly go with the mainstream government official statement kinda guy, i just find conspiracy theories too broad and numerous and easy to get mixed up in so i believe they at least went in and killed the guy. Maybe they waited for political timing or not, but what i found quite awesome was that they sent in a team of commandos like in the movies, instead of just bombing the shit out of it.

When 9/11 happened and as horrific to me as it was, i kind of lost a bit of the sense of wonder that i had about the United States being this impenetrable world of CIA's and FBI's and military superiority, and where bad guys just dont win. I almost thought at the time where was Van Damme or Schwarzenegger or Bruce Willis in the control tower to divert the planes at the last minute and kill the bad guys while simultaneously delivering a cheesy one liner... "allah see you in hell!" I was young though.

So when i heard they sent in a team of SEAL's in a night time chopper drop with helmet cams and sattelite feeds directly back to the "situation room " where the president watched live and then identified and killed the worlds most wanted terrorist....i was like WOW! It was pretty cool. I guess they're gonna make another Navy Seals film! Hopefully without charlie sheen this time no.gif
