I noticed on youtube that Shit Towne and Top were played recently.

What's up with that?

I just wanted to cry when I heard the band play Shit Towne. This is just really nothing like LIVE played it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqLz8yc9c6A

Top was quite changed from the original (less hard, more up beat and Ed on a [semi] acoustic guitar?):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t35deTkHcXQ

I´m oke with Ed not forgetting his past, but just don´t touch any fan favorites! Just keep it at I Alone, All over You and Heaven or something (if he really needs to cover something at all).

As someone who was born, raised, and still lives in York, Shit Towne used to be an amazing angst ridden anthem about my town. This version loses all of that power, and it saddens me to hear it played like this.

Seriously - it's like he's a lounge act covering himself.

Ding, Ding, Ding! That's exactly what he has become. A fucking lounge act.

I couldn't even get 30 seconds into Shit Towne. I expected it to be bad, but wow, that was a castration. For all of you wanting a Live reunion, wake up, Ed isn't ever going to return to being the Ed of old. And as much as I don't care for the new Ed, it's his life and I'm certainly no one to judge. Do I like it, hell no. The past is just that, it will never be like that again so appreciate it for what it is and either enjoy TGF or the lounge act of Eddie and The K's. I'm not going to blast Ed like I could since for the 1st time ever I'm on the Ed side of the board, I saw the post topic name and decided to give a look...but come on, even u Ed supporters can't appreciate killing a classic like that. And the 28 seconds I saw was exactly that... a murder, someone call the York police department.

I did thoroughly enjoyed the person laughing at 19 seconds in. I think that laugh says it all.

Is it just me or does Ed look like one of the Butabi's from Night At The Roxbury with that suit and chain on the outside. Yeah, you know I'm right.

They were acoustic covers. I'm excited to hear them in AC if he decides to play them.

Alright, I'm confused. I thought Ed was on the Christian Contemporary Jesus train now? If so, why is he singing Shit Towne?

Don't get me wrong - I know plenty of Christians who are okay with cursing and do it frequently. But, they aren't the kind of Christians who would bastardize their own lyrics like Ed did to STD, I Alone, and God knows what other songs.

Mixed signals, anyone? Or is he dropping the Christian thing because it didn't boost his sales enough?

Come on man, Shit Towne as an ACOUSTIC cover...of course you support it blindly. Dude, you'd be excited to see your lover play In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida on a flute.

Not to hit that dead horse but that term started all the rage. I wont watch those clips as I would rather let them be remembered as they were.

Tonight i had a long drive....listened to TGF album and some other tgf clips.

Then listened to SS.....that album was everything the 4 of them were all about. The sonic flow of that record cemented their legacy with me.

I was the same. But it wasn't due to the quality of the performance - the sound quality of this recording was shithouse. I'm going to reserve my judgement on Ed's solo version of Shit Towne until I hear a version that isn't distorted to hell. Why anybody would bother uploading this is beyond me...

Ah, no, this wasn't acoustic, right? I guess I heard the band play along, Ed with acoustic guiitar. So in fact it's acoustic in a way the Distance and STD are performed now, so... not really acoustic, if you ask me. Even Shit Towne Ed solo(acoustic) would be better than with his.... coverband... *ahuhm* I mean band.

I feel the same,...this song is one of my +LIVE+ favorites and this acoustic version by ED is nothing but a rape...why oh why,...ED could do much much better, but he seems to get more worse everytime I hear him singing...the band is so soft and far away in the background...(sigh) uhoh.gif
