It seems weird to say my favorite Live song is one that we only have a demo version of but it is an incredible song. Probably helps that I saw them play it in concert. Hard to imagine that Throwing Copper could have been even better than it was had it been on the album. Hell, there are a few songs that could have been on Throwing Copper that were not that would have made it better.

Even now I consider it one of the best albums I have ever heard. I know it made Rolling Stones top 200 (I think it was 200) albums of all time. I wonder where it would have placed if the other songs made the cut.

I'd love to hear why it didn't make TC or was never released. Seems like a lot of people really like it. Probably could have been a hit.

What song could you have left off throwing copper? I dont think you could take any song out of throwing copper without damaging the overall narrative of that album. Hold me up is probably my favourite live song on its own, but it covers thematic ground that other songs on that album already have more interestingly covered. Like with anything, filmmaking for example, they tell you to be prepared to cut out your favourite scene (or song) for the greater good of the finished product.

but yeh its about fucking time they released the damn song.

I don't they would have had to remove a song. But, since you asked I would drop Horse in a heartbeat since it is only a secret track.

I do however think that Hold Me Up is a better song than at least 5 other songs on the album.

for sure Hold me up is a better song than horse, by far. But in the context of where the song is on the album, and how white discussion climaxes and leaves the listener drained and completely blown away and maybe even a little depressed, then in comes this funky little country number out of nowhere, it is a truly interesting little gift. The guys knew what they were doing, they were quite damn creative once upon a time.

Regarding what someone said before about releasing hold me up while its still "hot", even though i agree it needs to come out NOW i feel this is a song that will always be able to capture a listeners heart. Its just a really really good song and always will be.

well it was 'hotttt' around the time that that 'porn" movie was released, en everyone went like: 'what is that incredible song?!' and 'who's the band that played the song in that movie, need to have it?'. I'm talking of people that didn't or didn't very well know Live. Now THAT was a sign the song could be HUGE! Too bad, they just decided not only not to take the chance and make a kick-ass single out of it. No, they didn't even worked out the rights to put it on the soundtrack.

So talking about 'releasing when it's still hot'... I suppose it's a little bit too late now.
Never too late for me tho!!! rockin.gif

It was the 2009 version. I believe it was at HOB in Dallas in May. While the show was "timid" at times they still rocked pretty hard. Ed went shirtless and started running around like a mad man for White, Discussion. I want to say he even kicked over some stuff but I could be mistaken. I think at least one of the band members kicked something over. They also played Believe. It was a solid show.

White, Discussion should have ended the album and every show since the album was released.
