An April Fool's Joke on March 31st? If it was a joke, where was the punchline?

I don't think you would need a Facebook post to reunite the other 3. Remember the reunite post came after Ed was supposedly unresponsive to Live getting back together.

Could be a step in the process to actually remove Ed, or move forward without.

Maybe your highness Eddie K better be careful what he wishes for. He may find himself completely out of Live. I doubt Eddie K formerly of Live has the same cache, especially if they do release something (without EK) that is well received. We'll see who's crawling back to whom.

I think it is more likely that they are just trying to stir up some interest in Live to promote their next release, and that they are likely to have no intentions of rejoining with Ed.

I dunno - wonder what woulda happened if say TGF weren't called TGF and just straight replaced Ed with KM from the get-go and the songs made it radio worldwide cos it's LIVE and not TGF. LIVE as a brand may not be as popular, but it would still get a listen - because it's LIVE playing rock music.

I'm not saying it will be easily accepted or that it's what 'sells' or anything - just a personal feeling that if someone who knew LIVE pre-2000 heard a LIVE song with a new singer and then realised it was LIVE, I think they might be pleasantly surprised.

Most people I know who liked LIVE (not die hard obsessives like us here on fansoflive) but just folks who had at least one of TC, SS or TDTH loved the stuff off TGF when I played it for them.

Sorry if this post comes outta nowhere, but I'm still reading a few pages back - so posting in response to something back there.

That is essentially what Ed's Solo thing is. It's Live-continued (on the path they'd been paving since TDTH). Ed's success, or Nick's perception thereof, isn't because Alive is such a great album, it's because Ed is cashing in the +Live+ card. Nick is right that it's a branding thing. Ed isn't establishing his solo act as a brand but rather a continuance of +Live+ in a free-fall. He still shows up to promotions playing Lighting Crashes for gods sake.

TGF is rebranding. They don't want SFBM-esque Pop-Rock associated with them. Naturally that means they will struggle more at first, but in the long run I believe TGF has the greater potential of establishing themselves as something relevant. Ed-solo doesn't have that potential with the direction he's going. It's just gonna be SFBM-2 (Alive), then SFBM-3, SFBM-4 and so on.

Ed continuting the Live songs as he has been doing is what is keeping people coming. A good marketing plan that will ultimately fritter away. The FB post by CC&P shows people want a reunion with all 4. TGF is what we got after attempts to keep a band together for too long. Not sure it's a priority and it sounds as Ed doesn't need them.....he hasn't in 12 years so....let him piss it all down the rat hole.

Ed should stop playing Live songs and start only doing new material if he's a serious artist. Perhaps play 1-2 Live songs in his sets and break out as a real solo artist. If he dissapears into the Great Beyond, I won't miss him. I've not missed him for quite some time.

(and to steve's point above, that plan may or may not fail.....it's a SFBM trail, it may die on his next record, if he changes courses and sets the SFBM vein into something more progressive and rocking he may prolong his career)

I have wondered this myself, and honestly, I think it would have worked and the new record would have been really well received. If you look at groups who changed lead singers, the successful ones were typically the ones who re-vamped their sound and went with a vocalist who didn't sound like the original member.

If "Honest Man" had hit the radio as Live it would have gotten a whole lot more attention.

All that said, I admire them for not cashing in and going that route.
