QUOTE(Pokey @ Jun 27 2010, 11:03 am) *

Well in a way, it is trash .. it's about the lowest common denomonator of music along with r'n'b I feel. It's like the junk food of the music world. It's not good for you, dulls the senses, makes you lazy and complacent about music. So much of music's rich history full of music that was revolutionary and inovative, creative and deep and now we've arrived at this seemingly manafactured style music. Idol type music, a style of music purely designed to be sold and not explored, it's the style that Ed is going for and that is absolutely undeniable. Given the many many genre's out there I think that this is one genre that for the most part is total trash. Now you might like it, but that doesn't change what it is.

r'n'b is trash? Holy fuck that's crazy. Some of the gretest music of the 20th century was r'n'b. Rock wouldn't exist without blues & r'n'b.

But I'll cut you some slack and assume you're really talking about hiphop.

Just because The Gracious Few is usually louder than Live, doesn't mean they rock more.

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Jun 28 2010, 12:24 am) *

Just because something "rocks" doesn't make it pleasant to listen to.

I can't get over these 2 statements lol

Statement one seems to imply that Rock > Loud and that Live rocks more than TGF which makes them better.

Statement two seems to then completely contradict statement one by saying that just because something rocks more than something else (which apparently according to Nick Live rocks more than TGF) that doesn't make it better.

So Nick, does that mean in your first statement you're actually saying TGF is better than Live?

Man this shit is like a Twilight Zone episode.

So really, now that we see you're just completely contradicting yourself and don't really have any kind of point it's clear you're just shitting anything TGF just for the sake of it and because you can. If you truely knew what the hell you were talking about you wouldn't get holes poked in your arguments so much by everyone.

I should clarify that a bit more, I mean more modern day r'n'b. I certainly don't mean hip hop because hip hop in it's purest form is actually a pretty inovative form of music. But r'n'b I mean more in the bastardised stuff you hear now "oooo girl, gonna love ya girl, get down girl". Something like Craig David for example.

God damnit that wasn't even the argument. You decided to say that TGF's album won't rock as much as Live's music. I said it probably will rock a lot more than Live's music has since TC. That had nothing to do with taste or liking it or not liking it, it was just about the style of music. Jesus Christ.

For my money, Closer rocks as hard as anything Live's put out. It ranks up with all the big guns (provided the CD version sounds anywhere near the Fat Daddy's boot).

For the most part, I like Hot A/C and Rock music. Hard rock was never my thing, especially the stuff from the 70's.

Then go and enjoy your baldmusic from 20s.

Nahnah, mate. Do not mix r'n'b with rythm and blues smile.gif

If people are considering success based on album sales, then I doubt we will ever know which one sells more albums unless one side side has a real big commercial single. I'm guessing that there will be a lot of sales on their websites (particularly for the release) and a lot of sales at concerts from people that like what they hear. I don't know how those can be accurately tracked and reported for sales numbers.

As I said, in the US it will be crapshoot, but Ed has it over TGF overseas. I'm doubting that TGF's album will debut anywhere near #4 in any country or chart.

Every time somebody votes in a poll the thread is automatically bumped and appears at the top of the list.

Nick does not have admin access.

That's been happening a lot in the live forum I noticed. One with an outtodry post and one by merica. Always said new posts and when you went there they were always the same old ones. Mystery solved!
