Oh shit! Not "the brand!". Seriously. Fuck how you view music. It's insulting to people who actually like music.

It's ok for the guys to look at Live as a brand. It really is at this point. But they know what got them there and I'm sure they will do everything in their power to respect the legacy they have created. I'm sure it was killing them the last 10 years. Now it's in their hands and it sounds like they have a plan to do the best to honor their legacy and the fans. That begins with the music of course, and I know that is what is most important to them.

Nothing is lamer than a lead singer replacement. If that happens, fans will never know who is leading the band. Do you really want a Live reunion tour billed as "Live with original lead singer Ed Kowalczyk?"

Nice update by Chad! Can't wait to hear the unreleased stuff. I'm a little confused on the new material recorded, "non-traditional" Live tours, etc. because as much as I would love for them to get back together...I would want it with Ed, Chad, Chad, and Pat...not with a new singer. Just my opinion anyways. It seems that until we get some answers, we will only have questions. Hopefully everything is clarified in the near future.

Live getting back together would just be an attempted moneygrab for CCP. When they thought The Gracious Few was going to draw in crowds, they tore Ed apart publicly. Now since their tours weren't good financially, they are trying to push for a Live reunion tour.

After what was said, Ed has every right not to go back to Live. It is sad that CCP may kill the brand by going the new singer route.

The mere fact you say Brand instead of Band is disgusting.

No I don't. It's Ed or nothing. And that doesn't mean I like Ed. I'd only want to see Ed come back if he doesn't have complete creative control. If he does then I'd rather not see any incarnation of Live at all. I don't give a shit about sales, charts, success or any of the shit you do. Just the music.

You're way off base here, like another planet off base. You should just stop. You're love of Ed really clouds your judgement. You continue to overlook how passionate these guys are for Live and music in general and the pure place that they come from. Honestly, these guys are still approaching things like they did when they started Live. It's really amazing. These vindictive or twisted plots that you are coming up with are just ridiculous. Again, you don't even see how Ed has a part in this and how he could also try to preserve the legacy they have created. Then again, he abandoned that years ago so why would we expect anything else from the egomaniac.

He comes up with these plots because to him life is a Disney movie or a WWE storyline he is living through. He's a total loon.

I know Chad doesn't want there to be any ill-will toward Ed for pursuing his own music, but that's not the reason people are upset with him. There's no way Chad can put that cat back in the bag no matter how much positive spin he puts out or how many times to reach out to Ed they attempt. The guy fucked the rest of the band in the ass, and with them the majority of the Live-loyal fan-base.

Basically, as a Live fan I'm following their lead. If they can forgive and invite Ed back into the fold to pick up the torch they put down sometime in the year 2000 or so then so be it. If he doesn't care? Fuck him and long live TGF. That's the long and the short of it.

As for Live with a new singer? I don't know about that. The band from Creed sure put themselves in a killer position to be successful when they dumped Scock Twapp and formed Alter Bridge with a guy who could actually sing. But that was a new band, with a new approach. When they reformed Creed they put out an album full of horse shit that wouldn't have made a a B-sides disc from their first three albums. In other words, they were the Live (circa 2006) of the angst-driven, post-grunge scene.

My point? Maybe the upcoming releases should just focus on rarities, outtakes, etc. from pre-V... because even if they got a killer singer to replace Ed, it still wouldn't be vintage Live. And THAT'S what I want. Having said that... if a "new version" of Live that was at least equal to, if not better than vintage Live came along I wouldn't close my ears in the least. But for that to happen they've got to get a singer who can do something unique and not just try to sound like Ed. Alice In Chains sound decent since reforming, and this is no knock on the guy but everyone knows that William DuVall is Layne Staley-lite. There's an obvious quality that's missing and this is a singer who knows how to carry a tune.

Wow it is nice that chad is willing to write this stuff and share it with all. It feels personal and caring to the fans which is extremely unusual in this day and age. I sooo hope they release some hidden tracks...like when photograph recorded in some chapel I want to hear the whole recording! Interesting they have reached out to Ed......I don't blame Ed for not wanting to speak with them after they held him out to dry and painted him as a crook the way ccp did. It may be true but if they didn't react like that 2 yrs ago things may be different now. However its a step in the right direction...Ed now knows he has the option and perhaps after his next solo album he will think about it. I don't want to see live with a new singer it just won't work. Ed's voice is so unique & identifyable while being a quality vocalist and that isn't easy to replace. If they got the lead singer from better than ezra maybe they could fool a lot of the general public and tour as live and they won't notice but I dont think there's another singer out there that sounds anything remotely like ed!

Can we get a can of gas and light a match?

Dangum, I propose the board be renamed to 'Selling the Coffee', or at least a sub board

I don't really read this as Live having a new lead singer, he doesn't even say those words in there unless I missed it. I think that they are just planning the promised b-sides release by looking for ways to promote it and help the fans understand what it is.

Just my 2 cents.

You're on the money funky. I think it's more about that and a way to keep the door open for the prodigal son. Yep, that's my sense of the matter anyway.

You all know that I don't respond to many posts, but this one made me absolutely cringe. WTF...moneygrab? Where do you come up with this shit? Have you had a chance to talk to C, C or P lately? Honestly...how often do you actually have a personal conversation with any of the guys, including Ed? I hardly think you are on the inside of any of this so rather than making comments, perhaps you could just state that these are your opinions and NOT fact in any way.
