QUOTE(Pokey @ Mar 23 2011, 3:20 pm) *

Interesting post. I am curious as to how this goes down. I think they'll initially dig into the back catalog of songs and hopefully pull out some great gems for us. But if things with Ed don't get patched up and they do as they say, go back into the studio. Does that mean with a new singer?
Mixed feelings on that.
Live is only the 4 of them to me. As big of a tard as Ed is, he's Live's singer. However, i'd still prefer no Live at all anymore if the alternative was him coming back and running the show again.
Still, early to speculate.
I'm still excited for some older B-sides and outtakes though!

I'll hand it over to Nick now to completely fabricate hidden meanings in this and to tell us all take everything completely out of context. Nick, will you even care about the material that is planned to be released, or just how it's marketed?

You took the words out of my mouth. While I most certainly appreciate the update from Chad, the post seemed a little unclear to me. Sure they can release tracks we've never heard without any involvement from Ed, but then he mentions touring in some capacity and even hitting the studio. Is he saying these things might be without Ed or that they will do them if Ed becomes interested in the future?

Maybe Ed wouldn't have been unresponsive to a Live reunion if he wasn't thrown under the bus publicly.

Live without Ed will be an epic fail.

Sometimes things are left a little open-ended on purpose and this may be the case here. The door is at least cracked to allow Ed to return to LIVE, but I think we are still a few years away from that. I hope that I'm wrong, but I think Ed and TGF for that matter feel they have other ventures they need to satisfy.

Well said, and communicating with the fans in the way that C & C & P do and for the matter, KM & SH has been a breath of fresh air and so commendable.

Oh yeah.. because Live was epic successful when Ed was running things for the last 10 years. laugh.gif

You seriously need to get your schnoz out of Ed's back side.

That's perfectly stated.

Nick, you've placed yourself on an island.

Is your anchor up and are you being swept away? Are the teachers not hesitating, have you oiled the chains of fate?

What it will end up doing is hurting the Live brand as a whole. Look what happened to Fuel when they replaced their singer. The album didn't sell and they called it quits after one poorly received tour.

The "brand" is back in the hands of caretakers who actually care about it, so I'm sure it will be fine. Ed is still living off of it. If the guys are able to move forward without him, it hurts him the most as the "brand" is established without him. Either way, it's not good for any of them to put themselves above it, which Ed has clearly done. Ed will suffer the most if it fails or succeeds without him.

No, I'm sure it would still be awesome. They are a creative and talented trio. They would come up with something amazing I'm sure without Ed. Would it be as commercially successful? Of course not. But we know that's how you rate success/fail.
The one thing it wouldn't be is Live.

He won't understand that. He won't know what song that is, cause he obviously doesn't have a connection of any sort to when Live was a 4-person band. Now, on the other hand, if you had asked:

Does your love shine? Ohhhh Does your love shine? Do you think of gentle Jesus?

or

Did you deserve have of this? Did you think him one more time and did you seal it with a kiss?

then he would have known exactly what you were referring to.

Oh shit! Not "the brand!". Seriously. Fuck how you view music. It's insulting to people who actually like music.

Live getting back together would just be an attempted moneygrab for CCP. When they thought The Gracious Few was going to draw in crowds, they tore Ed apart publicly. Now since their tours weren't good financially, they are trying to push for a Live reunion tour.

After what was said, Ed has every right not to go back to Live. It is sad that CCP may kill the brand by going the new singer route.

No, what's insulting is his avatar. The Force is not amused.
