okay...so much debate over on the live board over the most overrated band of all time, it is time to move the topic to the proper place.....

lots to choose from.....but i guess my vote has to go to......

Nirvana... I would have agreed with you before I saw MTV Unplugged, which featured them, but after watching unplugged that quickly changed. Incredible performance!

Overrated band of all time.. hmm.. I have a whole list of bands that fit into this category, but for now I'll say Green Day. I don't understand what people see in this band. Horrible performers.

As the inspiration for this thread, I'll go ahead and agree with my own statement, that Nirvana is the most overrated band of all time. To me, they just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Smells Like Teen Spirit is the most atrocious bollocks that have ever had the opportunity to come out of my speakers. Kurt Cobain gets on my nerves. If I wanna listen to grunge, I'll take Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Temple of the Dog, or Soundgarden over Nirvana any freaking day, even if I was threatened to have to listen to Britney Spears or The Backstreet Boys for a week straight. So, there's my position on this whole thing.

I'll agree that Spells Like Teen Spirit is an awful song. I can't stand listening to it. They did perform a David Bowie cover, "Man Who Sold the World", which was incredible. Most of their songs I don't care for, but there are a couple that are so powerful. Like Come as you Are, Lake of Fire, and Where did you sleep last night.

I haven't listened to STP in awhile. That was a good band, which reminds me of how bad Velvet Revolver is. I suppose Velvet Revolver doesn't fit into the overrated category since I don't think they are really popular. Anyways, I don't like that band.
