This part really bothered me:

How was it transitioning from Live to a solo career?
I was responsible for all the lyrics and music for Live, so the writing process didn’t change much at all for me.

Not even the slightest bit of thanks or acknowledgement to those who wrote the music for much of the bands first 10 years.

Can't fault his sense of humour, at least.

Would you thank the guys who basically ripped through in the media for the past year? And the last 10 years he was responsible for majority of the music for Live and he has always supplied the lyrics.

It would be great for him to not lie once in a while. I believe the other 3 members of Live have every right to trash him, after he's diminished their contributions over the last few years.

Besides, Mr. Sales Figures, it's no coincidence that as Ed took more control of the music, that the albums became worse in quality and even worse in sales results.

Lol yeah he's such a victim, the other guys are totally gang raping him for no reason at all! All he wants to do is make some money at any cost, is that so bad?!?!

I'll give into the idea of semantics here, but he's been steadfast in that position, besides this is what he states in the litigation from last year.

Ed's talent as a lyricist has declined dramatically, but his talent as a song writer hasn't really declined at all. It just was never that good. He could always write a catchy tune, but it took the insane talent of the other guys to make it magical. Listening to a song like Guilty Fever makes it readily apparent where the unusual song structures of a few of the gems on TC or SS came from. Fuck Ed and his arrogant bullshit, at his absolute best he was one quarter of a great band. He is a laughable cocksucking joke.

"When I took Ed out of the equation, and I gave the Gracious Few a fighting chance, I realized how much my love for Live had nothing to do with Ed Kowalczyk, especially on the last couple of albums. The driving force of the music that I love rests squarely on the shoulders of Chad Taylor, Chad Gracey, and Patrick Dahlheimer. No one was more surprised to learn this than I was."

Way too true. LIVE was CCP with a frontman in my book, and I never dreamed I'd ever say that. It seems the majority of the fans felt that way, too, as when Ed took over their popularity went straight into the toilet.

I Think the hardened long timers who value the musical organic roots of Live lie in CC&P and take this objective view. There is no denying it. Most of us know this is absoluetly true now that we see them in their evolution to a new band with new partners. It's unmistakeable and undeniable. This is what drew me in to Live way back. Ed's edgier hardened voice with the hard rhythm section of Live and Taylors crashing chords. That mix was what moved the masses to see them. When it went on the slippery slope to the frontman..........meh.

Thanks, really, to everyone who has commented. These couple of pieces started as a Facebook rant about the interview. None of this is new information, certainly, but I've been really blown away by the response. I was afraid I'd be blasted out of the water, and I'm willing to accept that if it happens, but I'm really heartened to see how many people love my boys and will support them above the flash and trash of a front man. (As I cross my fingers for my new beloved groupie love crush, Kevin Martin.)

Taylor's response was, "Wow. Kinda says it all."

Yes, it does, Chad. Yes, it does.

In this thread I think Ed should get a little more credit for the tremendous amount and quality of rocking he did.
