Actually the show was filmed for PBS, and Live songs are much more familar to a general audience.

Live songs like "Mirror Song," "The Distance," and "Beauty of Gray" are so recognizable. Everyone knows those tunes! lol.gif

More people know those tunes than any track on Ed or TGF's debut album(outside of Grace in Australia).

Nick, does your previous post make my statement false?

And a new question: why does TGF have to be mentioned in the Ed thread?

Why do non-Ed fans post in the Ed thread and vice versa?

you are such a man, answering my questions with questions.

Why do you think that the guys posting here are not Ed's fans? Why do you pist in TGF threads? Why do you never answer any questions? Why do you want Ed to gain more money? Do you want him to rule the world? Do your students study well when you hit Stand while their are working out?

Dimi now you're troll feeding!

Remember Nick seeS music differently to us. Where we see art he sees economic opportunity. He views a band being filmed and try's to see how they can best profit from this. Most people just relish the content. It's pretty sad.

Maybe I’m missing something but what’s the problem with Ed playing Live songs? Ed always plays mostly Live material during his acoustic shows. When he plays with his band he plays 9-10 songs from Alive, which is the most new music from a cd played during concerts since The Distance to Here. It’s not like he avoids his music from Alive. I don’t even remember Live playing an entire album during many (if any) concerts, even in the earlier days. Live is a big part of his history and he has always mentioned in articles that he still plays Live stuff. I know in a perfect world, Live songs would only be played by a band consisting of Ed, Chad, Chad, and Pat. But it’s not and when a lead singer goes solo, they typically play stuff from their prior band(s). Of course, there are always exceptions to this.

Is it wrong? I don’t think so, it’s what they are known for and rightly or wrongly the lead singers are typically the face of the band. We all know Live had major problems towards the end, but if Ed still enjoys playing the songs…why should he stop? He can do it now, without all the drama that was happening (yes, he was at least part of the cause).

Anyways, on topic a little bit…I saw Open Wings, Broken Strings in 2009 and it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Too bad I won’t be able to attend any of the shows this week, especially since I’m a huge fan of Emerson Hart’s solo album. As a matter of fact, I think it’s a lot better than Alive. Oh, don’t worry TGF fans…I think it’s better than TGF’s album too smile.gif

Nick, if you say and believe this...then you have to stay out TGF threads also.
