QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Mar 1 2011, 6:33 am) *

I actually met Hulk Hogan last year at a meet and greet. Despite being in tremendous pain with serious back issues he stayed for over 3 hours(90 minutes past his scheduled time) to make sure every fan got a picture and autograph.

Cos the dude was getting paid for it! He'd stangle cats if it meant he got some money for it. The fact that the dude is almost universally hated by everyone in the business for a multitude of reasons doesn't seem to bother you because you only see what you want to see.

The Ric Flair trying to bash Fishy doesn't surprise me either, crazy old man.

Either way, bringing up wrestling wasn't a change of topic, it was just a little thing I noticed that directly relates to how you view Ed, I think it just says more about yourself than anything else.

Nick defends Ed I get that...and at times he dissed TGF which I think is Un-cool but surely after 2 years we can move on?

Nuh. Ed sucks, Nick sucks, TGF rules! Say no more.

Actually Hulk was paid before the appearance, he wasn't making money on each individual person, so I guess you can try again. He was nice and genuine to all the fans in attendance, despite his coniderable pain.

Actually from most reports that I've read Hogan is well liked backstage in TNA, and any wrestling biography you read, he comes across as a nice guy. Hogan and Mcmahon have a hot and cold relationship, but that's all business.

I'm willing to bet that he was paid extra for running over time, those types of appearences generally do. I'll be nice to you if you pay me, money works wonders.

The many many reports of what a cunt he is has nothing to do with McMahon and come from a lot of people within this industry who don't have ties to either now and nothing to gain by aligning themselves with either camp. The dude had a massive hand in killing an entire company, Ed had a massive hand in killing the band.
This wasn't meant to turn into a wrestling debate, as I said, you just see and hear what you want to and block out the rest.
I mean dude, you're into Disney still, its no surprise that all you want is happy endings where the "hero" wins.

Actually before Hogan and Bischoff, WCW never turned a profit. They actually gave the company a prosperous run for roughly 5 years. After a while the run ended, and the merge with AOL is what killed the company. Hogan was long gone before that happened.

The seeds were planted man, he was a selfish spotlight hog who never knew when his time was up and when to let new talent shine. Dude demanded power over his own booking, unlimited reports of holding people down, the "finger poke of doom", its all there as to why the man was scum. But he's the "hero" like Ed is the "hero" being the frontman, and you absolutely won't be swayed on that no matter what it seems. Keep on dreaming the dream man!

You guys need to step away for a minute and realize that you are talking about a washed up wrestling star on a message board for a band that is even more irrelevant than he is.

I'm embarrassed enough that I still visit the board for a band who hasn't done anything noteworthy since I was in high school, don't make it worse!!

*facepalm*

haha dude, as I said, it wasn't about wrestling per say. I just remembered Nick talking about it awhile ago and found the connections between how he thinks of that and Ed to be interesting.
I didn't expect it to go too off topic but I shouldn't have been surprised tongue.gif

lol and I knew as soon as I saw you post that on facebook that it would end up in this thread haha tongue.gif

Oh its not you, OTD started it. smile.gif

I consider this thread definitive proof that Live should NOT get back together. Evidently they'll end up playing WWE events if they do.

Pro wrestling is about as fake as Ed is.

haha no I think I started it by bringing up Nick's man-love for Hogan being akin to his man-love of Ed.

The ironic thing is that I still keep an eye on wrestling from time to time (old habits die hard) and seeing The Rock come back and give a promo gave me more of a rush than anything Ed has done in the past 5 years or so.

hey TGF are going into the studio... nervous.gif

The highest PPV buy rates for WCW in the 1990's were all Hulk Hogan main events, and the highest Nitro ratings can be attributed to Hogan as well. Hogan wanted control over his booking because he was trying to protect his legacy in a new company. Ted Turner gave it to him, so how can he be blamed?

You do understand that the dirtsheets are supplied most of their info by lower level wrestlers who complain about their spots in the company. Real talent can't be held down.
