I don't want Live without Ed, and I don't want Live touring just to play their greatest hits. That will be a sad day if it comes.

touring just to play greatest hits.. no thank you.. touring and playing true fan favorites off the first 4 albums.. i would abso-fricking-lutely want to have that experience again..

another album- i'd be seriously skeptical about. but IF they can reconcile and IF they all are equally involved in the creation of the music AND IF ed can find something else to write lyrics about other than love, god, and the beauty in his daughters eyes, well.. i'd give it a go.. but thats ALOT of "IFS"! lol.gif

The band was doing that the last time they toured. They played their greatest hits along with Gas Hed, Hold Me Up, Top, Supernatural and others. Live has a catalogue of nearly 100 songs, they don't need to create new music to put on an awesome show for fans.

True Nick, but it was for us, the kids. C & C & P needed to get away as did Ed. It's way to early for this kind of talk. It's to keep the music alive, they're going to basically present us with a deluxe package album.

The last 3 years(2006-2009), the band overtoured. Now that they have other projects, the guys can tour as Live, but not exclusively to the point of burnout.

Touring as Live could also help finance TGF to some extent, since the band has struggled to gain a touring following out of the gate.

I am so confused by this. Is Ed not doing as well now as a solo artist or something? Just a few months ago CT looked like a serial killer and CG was bitterly unprofessional for the things he posted on Facebook. Why in the hell would you want Ed to get back together with them? It makes no sense.

I am also confident that you don't know half as much about the financial situation of either act as you think you do. If you were to see TGF play live it would be obvious to you that those guys couldn't care less about getting Live back together, and as you have noted many times, Ed seems happier too.

If a band is charging 10 dollars a ticket, and still not drawing well in most markets, I don't see how touring could be profitable. At the very least they all took a very huge paycut from their days with Live. You're a musician, can you give me stronger insight as to how TGF's touring situations can be financially lucrative?

They most likely have a deal with their promoter where they get paid a flat rate no matter how many people they bring in. They make their money from this up-front fee, combined with the merchandise, CDs and whatever else is sold at the venue (excluding food & beverage, which goes to the venue itself). They might, however, have a contract stipulation that they get paid bonuses if it gets over certain percentages, so they are inclined to help promote the shows, etc.

Read what Jaybb said for the specifics, and I would add that they seem to have a large number of people willing to invest in them financially. That helps too.

Do I think they are making as much money as they did with Live and Candlebox? No. Do I think they care if they make as much money as Live or Candlebox? No.

Money is not the end goal for everyone.

I'd like to see them reform at some point, just because it would be a nice story if they all made up and revisited their old, collaborative ways in Live. With Ed's solo stuff and TGF alongside it, sure. They can be all free and artsy and all that, no longer holding all their eggs in one basket. I'm not too interested in the business side of it to be honest.
