True, definitely are in the USA. Gun laws in Europe are way, way stricter.

Although I'm not very familiar with American politics, I agree.

1. Hey, not me! I don't want wimpy little shitheads that get on the piss to avoid problems in life, smoke dope (same as the piss) or bash their women.
2. Don't watch it.
3. Both should be banned. I really don't know any motivated pot heads. They're all slack arses.
4. I seriously would be scared to live in America - seems it more legal to tote an f'en gun around than what it is to birth a baby at home.

and I'll add one:

what is it with celebrities/rockstars/actors pushing World Vision etc (that's fine if it encourages people to sign up) but then they have to brag about how they are going to visit that poor certain country....like that is gonna help? Why don't they just send the cost of the airfare over there instead? Why do they need to go? It's not like they are gonna roll up their sleeves and build the fucking well is it? The airfare price could pay for a couple of years of sponsorship instead.

Really? I had no idea the rest of the world thought this way about guns. I live in Texas and consider myself libertarian-left (far left) I feel more comfortable when I am around people with guns as long as they are licensed. My roommate in college was armed at all times with either a knife or a gun... good times. I myself always carry a knife and a handkerchief and think all men should.

If anyone is afraid of guns, don't take away guns from those who play by the rules. Get jobs to the inner cities so people don't have to resort to robbery.

*Step off soapbox*

I felt less safe walking around my own home suburb in Melbourne than I did anywhere I went in America. I'm sure obviously more guns means more violence by guns, that's a given, but you're never going to get rid of guns in America and I'm sure the overwhelming majority of people who own them are responsible with them. I think America dealing with gun problems now is just a case of "you've made your bed, now you have to lie in it". They gave their citizens the power to own firearms and now have to deal with the consiquences cos it aint going away.

Guns makes people feel like they got power, and if something unfair happens they will be their own judge, and all consequences that it may have.

In some ways I would rather have people carrying guns than knives... Guns can be more a defensive weapon, they're loud and do serious damage so you gotta have total balls to use it really. Knives are a more offensive weapon, they're quiet and for lack of a better term, they're just underhanded. Someone carrying a knife on them would strike me more as someone who is looking to make trouble. Someone who is carrying a gun is more likely just a person paranoid of being attacked.

D'ah well, America is controlled by fear, so in that image guns make a good fit.

Knowing the majority on this board is American, that probably is a very unpopular opinion. tongue.gif

Its funny whilst i was over there it didnt even register in my head that I was walking past people all the time that probably had guns on them. Just never seemed like an issue. I'm sure if someone pointed a gun at me I'd shit myself, but then I would also do the same if they had a knife to me. But probably more so as the chances of them using the knife are probably much higher. But really they're one in the same if the intention of the person behind them is to do bad.
The majority would have and treat them responsibly, but with such a huge population there are of course going to be issues with people having them that are bad. Whether thats a robbery or murder, but robberies happen here all the time too,gun or no gun. I think it's just too far gone to do anything about, they're never gonna turn things around so that owning a gun is illegal. I don't really care for it myself, but I think there's bigger issues they should be concerning themselves with.

I have another unpopular opinion!

The American government should put sin taxes on fast food just like they do for cigarettes. To save jobs, the places that can cut calories down to 400 calories an item would pay less taxes.

I think that's true everywhere in the world. Fear is not an American phenomenon.

i think the problem is personality disorders rather than guns themselves. People with paranoid personality disorder (about 2% of the population) will get cut off in traffic and take it very personally and depending on the exact circumstances or facial expression of the instigator feel compelled to take revenge, and with a gun at hand its the quickest most rational (to them) solution. human beings are so lame
