I was at the show last night as well. Wasn't planning to go because I live 2 hours from Cincinnati and had a 7AM flight out the next morning for business but said "fuck it" at the last minute and decided to just sleep on the plane. I don't think I'm a very good writer so I'm not going to attempt to give the show a "review" so much as I'm just going to yap about a collection of several individual points, some of which will probably be incoherent!

The whole concert experience was just flat out fucking badass. Like the OP said, maybe 150 to 200 people in the whole place with maybe, at best, 100 people standing near the stage. What made it even better was there was no row of security between us and the band. No stage that is 8 foot off of the floor. I stood inches from CTs foot pedal array (took a few pics with the iPhone, see below).

It's hard for me to admit this, but after following Live for 15 years and seeing several Live shows, but this show trumped them all. Not to discredit the band in anyway, but it is the result of a perfect storm. You have 5 guys who have decades of touring experience that suddenly find themselves with renewed passion for playing music but playing venues that are very small and intimate. This will ONLY happen on this tour and maybe the next, once their name grows the venue is going to get larger and what was to be experienced last night will be near impossible to happen again. To illustrate it another way, we were so damn close to the band that my wife said she was embarrassed to not know all of the words to the songs because she saw that the band was watching us almost as much as we were watching them.

This was my first time seeing TGF and also Kevin/Sean. Like many I was apprehensive about Kevin's vocal style at first but it has grown on me and after last night, witnessing it live, I found a whole new appreciation for it. He is a really damn good front man. He was very interactive with the crowd and at a couple of points he dipped down into the small crowd and held his face and mic up so that members of the crowd could sing a portion of the song with him. I was fortunate enough to sing with him on a portion of Crying Time, during the first chorus. This takes passion because before the concert I had a chilli-cheese dog and I'm sure my breath wasn't the best!

Sean is a fucking beast on guitar, maybe I'm just not used to following bands where they have a lead that goes off on solos but with him on lead and CT on lead/rhythm the guitar performances were very entertaining.

During the front porch, on honest man, CTs guitar cable came unplugged and fell out of the guitar just a moment before his solo. Unfortunately, or fortunately, he didn't notice and instead rocked the solo anyway. He was sitting in his seat with the guitar damn near vertical with his head bobbing but you couldn't hear him. When it was over and he looked back towards the audience we all pointed at the cable and he stuck it back in. He then mumbled on the mic "I swear I rocked that!" or something to that effect.

When the front porch was over and they went back to the full-power rock, for honest man I think CT wanted to make-up for his loss before and he seemingly cranked his amp about 3DB louder. It was to the point that it was painful but it was a "good-pain", pun not intended, because the energy and just how much the whole band was into it was phenomenal.

I recommend everyone here to get a piece of this early TGF tour, before they get bigger because for us diehard fans it's an unforgettable night.

Here is a video I upped to Youtube. It's the later portion of Appetite. It's just to convey how close and intimate the concert was, as you can see I couldn't even keep him in frame on an iPhone cause they were so damn close. Appetite was the opener and it was at this point I knew the show was going to be fantastic that I decided I wasn't going to be one of those people that experience a concert from behind a camera or cell phone trying to document it.

Also, Kevin mentioned that "front porch" type material will be releasing next year! Not sure if the community was aware of that!

Dear god, whoever the fan was that sang along during Crying Time right before the solo should have been taken outside and shot. Someone apparently is tone deaf.

20 bucks it's the cousin of the "Pain Lies on The Riverside" bozo from the Fat Daddy's boot!!

I've uploaded all the files to mediafire in mp3 and labled them properly and all .. problem is now i dont know where to find the link to the folder i just created, the URL is ending with "myfiles.php" rather than a proper link and cant seem to find it on the page .. anyone know where to get it?

You need to create a folder in Mediafire (in the "My Files" area) and move all your mp3s into that folder. You can then 'share' that folder.

Hey Dan question - Do you think it's a decent idea with yours/live2cd/TGF's to maybe send a mail out with info on where to download this bootleg or at least a link on the main page news or something .. could be a good chance to get some more word spread and it's such fine quality that it's a worthy example to showcase. Would need permission from all parties involved I guess first, but could be a good way to spread the word and get people excited for upcoming shows!

I'll add a news item linking to the torrent and your MP3s to the fansoflive.com home page on the weekend (I'm having issues with FTP at the moment). I don't think there's any need to get permission.

I think during that "Crying Time" sing along, part of the blame can be placed on KM for letting this dude sing into his mic....

There was no one around my stand at all.

Live2cd - Thanks! music.gif Your recording sounds great, it really makes me want to upgrade my mics for the shows here in CO in a few weeks. HEBs are a little rich for me, looking at some CA's but his leadtimes are probably too long to get the mics here in time for the shows.

Pokey - Thanks for uploading MP3s. I zipped them together into one file and uploaded here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/jvafky

PurdueSteve - nice review and picts

I like the recording (dont get me wrong), Im just unhappy w/ the unbalanced aspect of it all. It might only be me that notices, but the right is much weaker, but I did the best I could to get in line w/ the stack so Kevin's vocals would be up front.

Um, I had no problems whatsoever. It all depends on the venue...
This place was crazy-easy. Walked in there, BS'ed w/ the guys in yellow security shirts, they went and checked w/ the tour manager (Bill, I think?) and he cleared me. I just had to wait like 3 minutes at the door.

Tomorrow @The Newport will be a bit different. One time I taped Local H there back in 2007 and the guys at the door refused to find the band (they were just in the back, behind the stage) to let me in with my gear. I then had to call Brian (the drummer) to come up front and give the OK. I dont know TGF like I know Local H, hopefully history does not repeat itself.

Wish me luck tomorrow, but even if something should happen, we have Cincy to listen to and I know a few more will be taped by a few of you.
