Nick, what'd you think of the Fairfield show?? I really enjoyed it, its cool to see someone you like in a small venue like that. I'd been there before for Zox, who I got into when they opened for Live a few years back.

Any idea why the show was moved there...it only holds like 200 people. Was it due to poor sales?? From a fan's point of view I loved the show, and its awesome to see an artist you like in a intimate setting. I'm just kinda surprised that Ed is playing a tiny venue like that.

Also, I thought the turnout in Boston was a little disappointing. Did anyone else go to that show?? The venue was a pretty cool place.

All in all, I really had a great time at both shows. I thought he sounded great, the band was pretty good...a lot better than when I saw them earlier. My girlfriend and I also sponsored a child, which is a pretty rewarding feeling. So it was a great 2 days, just seeing what everyone else thought of the shows.

I thought the Fairfield show was awesome. I loved the venue, it was a great little theater with a nice vibe to it. The Klein theater has a capacity of 1400, and that was way too large for an Ed solo show. Venues in the range of 200-500 capacity make more sense at this point in the US.

How many do you think were in Boston? Philly and NYC had in the 400-500 range, and Conn was over 200(which was the venues capacity).

400-500 seems about right for the Boston show, definitely more than Connecticut...but I'm not good at judging attendance.

Yea, I thought the Klein was a little big for him in the first place. I was happy when the show was moved...its only about a 1/2 hour from me and even closer to where my girlfriend teaches, which is where we were leaving from. Plus I knew where the venue was and was familiar with it...one of my best friends went to Fairfield U so i spent a lot of time down that way.

That's awesome, where did you sit? Are you doing Open Wings?

If I were Ed, I would play solo acoustic shows during the year in small venues, and save the full rock band shows for the summer. There are plenty of 90's rock bands out there that would match up well with Ed for co-headlining or multi-band bills during the summer months.

2011 will be interesting to see what he does in regards to touring.

In Fairfield I was row D (4th row) in the center.

I'd love to go to open wings...I'd have done the Pittsfield, MA show, but my gf's cousin is getting married that night.

I saw his open wings shows in Hoboken and Morristown...and saw him accoustic at the city winery too...I loved all three.

The best part of Open Wings is the end when all 5 artists jam together at the end. They started that in Vegas last year and it is a definite highlight of the show.

I wish I could make it to the Delaware show in a couple of weeks. I loved the Open Wings show in Morristown last year. But I have a family thing that day and that's my main priority smile.gif

Ed is doing a series of Radio shows in the Northeast next week. The following stations are running contests for solo Ed shows that I know of:

WCCC Hartford

104.5 Philly

WDHA NJ

If interested, win to get in.

Just got back from Open Wings Broken Strings in Pittsfield. Great venue, awesome show. The highlight being when everyone performed "The Weight" for the encore.

After the show, Ed, Art, and Leigh had a meet and greet with all those in attendance. All in all a great night.

Setlist for Ed(may be out of order in the middle):

Selling the Drama
Just In Time
The Distance
The Great Beyond
Pain Lies on the Riverside
Grace
Zion
I Alone
Turn My Head
The Dolphin's Cry
Heaven
Drink
Lightning Crashes

Review for NYC show:

http://www.hybridmagazine.com/music/1010/edkowalczyk.shtml

For over fifteen years, the band LIVE was a powerhouse - they dominated the '90s pop/rock charts with numerous hits, building a loyal fanbase while selling millions of albums worldwide. Frontman Ed Kowalczyk led the way for the group, an energetic rocker full of passion and vigor on stage, with a voice all his own. Unfortunately for Live, the towel has been thrown in, and they've called it quits. Nevertheless, lead singer Ed Kowalczyk has decided to carry on, touring the country in promotion of his first solo album, Alive.

There's a decent crowd at Bowery Ballroom tonight, twenty and thirty-somethings waiting for Kowalczyk to make his way to the stage. His new backing band comes out first, starting the show off with a heavy drumbeat and fancy bass line. When Ed finally steps on stage the venue erupts. A mix of old and new are played, with Alive songs like "Zion," "Drive," and "Drink (Everlasting Love)", the last of which was co-written by American Idol-alum, Chris Daughtry. Surprisingly (or maybe not so?), Kowalczyk's new band performs almost every one of Live's hits, from "I Alone" to "Dolphin's Cry", and finds a great balance within the 18-song setlist by doing so.

The almost two decades since Kowalczyk first broke on the scene haven't affected him at all. His enthusiasm and talent are just as obvious as they were when Throwing Copper was released, and he sings with a seductive intensity, engaging the crowd and keeping the energy high. The only downside was that his band sometimes seemed to disappear behind him, and it would've been nice to see them be a bigger part of the night.

Ed briefly spoke of his partnership with the Christian humanitarian organization, World Vision, which dedicates their time to tackling the causes of poverty and helping children and their families around the world. He talked about his daughters and handed some World Vision pamphlets to those up close, then got back to the show, where he ended the night with a beautiful version of "Lightning Crashes" and "(We All Want To) Dance With You."

It's clear Kowalcyk is looking forward. He's put his Live days behind him, but doesn't hide from his past. His new Alive songs are reminiscent of the old hits, yes, but they're impressive and work on the road, where Ed Kowalczyk never fails to impress.

Why don't you fuck off and stay in the TGF threads??? Aren't you the one who keeps calling Ed a huge douche?? So why bother coming in his threads and antagonizing this shit?? You burn me for antagonizing your stupid ass, then continue to come over here and do the same thing??

Grow up, leave these guys alone, and stick to the TGF threads. Or is that too much to ask with your ADD/retardation/one track mind handicap??

Not only a complete dickwad but a hypocrit too!! Nice combo pal.
