There were some comments made in here this week stating why they might not succeed. I am holding my tongue and taking a wait & see approach.......I still think over time, this band will be a household name.

Why is that bad? I think that's great!

First of all you have to take into consideration location, the Philly show was on South Street. A main street lined with stores, bars and tons of people. I would imagine the shows that are in more highly populated locations will have higher attendance. Maybe that venue in Buffalo was poorly located. Who knows. One thing I do know that I saw last night, that I felt was really promising was there were a lot of young kids there. I would even go as far as saying still in high school, maybe college age. That's a good sign when the kids are there! That means this bad appeals to everyone!! They are not going to be known as a new band playing 90's alternative music.

Yeah there's no doubt that the Philly show is a huge step in the right direction, and it appears the Boston show was pretty similar in terms of turnout and crowd energy. The key is that the people who are coming to these shows keep coming back and it looks like most everyone will. Over time, with more time for promotion and hopefully a second album, the momentum will pick up. I really doubt they will ever be a household name, but I think they can definitely develop a cult following which allows them to tour 50 major US cities a year and get 3-4k in attendance per show. That would be a huge accomplishment for them and I believe it is a real possibility.

I am so glad that I went to this show cause I almost was not going to go...very last minute...left Poconos @ 5 pm....Got to South St and there was around 15 people there @ 7:30 pm waiting..got in @ 8 pm, front and center of Sean Hennesy, I was excited to hear this kid play as everything I have seen from him on FB has been humerous and was looking forward...well he can ^*@%(*@ play that guitar...CT did the right thing giving him the lead guitar and CT now seems like the father of the group....as far as Kevin Martin...again I never really listened to Candelbox cept for a tune or so on the radio...Liked what I heard when the release came out and prior but was still not certain if I could handle the band with a new singer..he is a perfect fit for this project!...inter action with the audience, friendly and very impressed with vocals...he also reaches out to the fans which is cool via FB...etc lol.gif Patrick was his typical mellow self...was wearing a lid which was surprising but looked good,,,,he looked like he was havin a blast..after show he told me ..."we are havin fun"...CT smashin his mic on the ground in regards to the plexiglass was pretty funny but I really wanted to see him smash a guitar...Gracey is again just a normal dude who can play his ass off on them drums!....all I can say is I wish everyone from +LIVE+ all the best in whatever ventures or paths they take...I am not into the drama of what the hell went on behind our backs but I will be letting everyone I know who loves to ROCK & ROLL to get to a show and check this band out..cause this is one of the best things to happen to music for quite a while!
INCREDIBLE SHOW! thumbsup.gif

QUOTE(dangum @ Oct 2 2010, 8:52 am) *

Since mid 1999, Chad Gracey had a glass (plexiglass) cage surrounding him (front and sides) when playing live. I don't have a picture handy but I did find this reference:

Question: Why have you started using those plexiglass "walls" in front of your kit for the touring of TDTH? Are they for soundproofing, for miking purposes, or for Raylo's sound, so his keys are more clearly audible? I'm rather curious, because I've found that all your subtle drum licks are harder to hear now, even though you're miked. I really find it hard when you're using the Hot Rods on songs like Face and Ghost, Lightning Crashes and Pillar of Davidson, if I'm not mistaken. smile.gif Bob Givnin, WA

Chad Gracey: Ahh, the Plexiglass wall question. I have started using this because we needed to greatly reduce the amount of sound on stage. I obviously cannot change my volumes so I needed to be reduced somehow. This is the answer. It all greatly effects the amount of control our front of house mixer has over his mix. As far as the Hot Rod question, I will have to talk to the mixer and let him know.

Thanks! I don't understand the technical stuff, but I don't see why his volume needed to be reduced. It sounded perfect last night. As a matter of fact that club's sound system was really good! I don't know any Live history, but from that video that was posted on youtube Chad seemed like he was never too happy about the plexiglass, so I'm assuming it wasn't their idea to use it.

rock4........lets simply say the plexiglass was part of the 10 year softening of Live's career, which was one of the compromises to the musical style and said lead singer.

The plexiglass really came down to nothing other than someone else wanted to be the star of the show.

Those premature demise posts should go away!!!

Excuse me? I think you need to realize that your opinion isn't the only one out there bud. Personally, I think the posts that need to go away are the ones like yours towards LiveMeltdown in the Billboard thread. You seem to jump all over anything anybody says that is even remotely negative towards this band. You need to relax buddy because to tell you the truth? You are honestly starting to remind me of TGF's version of Nick. Take that contructively from somebody who doesn't dislike you.

We are all here to discuss this band. These discussions are going to be both positive and negative. Get used to it instead of acting like a child with posts like the one I quoted above.

Back on topic. I told you guys this show fucking rocked. I'm still blown away by what I heard and witnessed. One of the single best live shows I've ever seen period.

Listen LR, I was trying to poke fun, not really chide you in particlular. We have fun here. But seriously, no offense, I am not the one who gets banned all the time for acting like a child. I love your contributions to this board and make the drama aspect of it so fun.

You don't know me so you wouldn't understand my sarcasm. I think your opinions of the band are very valid and have a lot of merit. Please don't compare me to (the person not to be named), it would be an utter mistake. I share some of your feelings about them having a hard time being indy. I think positive and negative discussion here is what makes this board great.

I say a lot of things in rah rah fashion, but when I make a comment that looks like I am offended to someone elses opinion, I'll fire a barb with a dry twist.....like the comment you pointed out.

With that yay.gif yay.gif yay.gif yay.gif yay.gif yay.gif
