it was before the Chameleon show. Nothing new in the interview though I really enjoy the acoustic Ligtning Crashes. That song blows my mind every time.

That's the difference between Ed and TGF. Ed has his own solo labum which he says time and time again its something different and he so happy to do it yet when given the chance he goes right back to the LIVE material for promotions and half his setlist.

TGF decided to not even play one LIVE song for thier tour! Sounds to me like TGF is way more excited about their new music than ED is about his! shrug.gif

I'm sure if you saw Ed perform in concert with his new material (which I doubt you want to because you don't like it...that's cool though), you might come away thinking differently. He seems very excited when performing songs from Alive and he plays 9-10 songs from that cd at every show.

Well, I'm sure Ed is enthused by it because he wrote it. However, Ed has 13 songs he wrote that he could perform yet he chooses to only do 9-10. Why not perform all of them? He still would have room for some LIVE hits as well and maybe a cover. Ed even said in an interview he wasen't as happy with the last half of his album as he was witht he first half and wish he would have spent more time on some of the songs. Anyways.... I was just saying. I'm not trying to argue. I think both groups are happy really which is the main thing. Ed's stuff is just boring to me now after hearing TGF. Just my 2 cents.

I personally wish he would play all of Alive and maybe even decide to play A New World or Eat Your Love. I really enjoy his album. Why doesn't? Maybe because he wants to try and please the people going there to hear Live songs...I don't know. Those obviously still get the best reactions because people know them and well they are just great songs. But he does play more of Alive than any stuff from V, BOP, or SFBM when they came out. I was just saying you can really tell he is excited and enjoys his new material. I'm glad all the members of Live feel that way about their new stuff. Hope it continues smile.gif

Yea TGF has something better going on but...

To make your TGF comparison, TGF would require Kevin to sing Live songs. You can't equate the idea of Kevin covering Ed on half of TGF's setlist, opposed to Ed playing songs that he wrote lyrics for and sings. Ed didn't seem to intended to stray from his classic set with his new album comments, his Live tracks are his claim to fame.

Playing 9-10 tracks every night off a new album seems sufficient to promote the new album and justifies what he said about happy to being doing something different.

He also makes these required canned responses to explain the idea of going solo and not being with Live.

The differentness also refers to the process of recording and touring, such as how he went to Texas to record for the first time and recorded/played with new people, and is in a new chapter of his career. Playing Live songs can still be considered different for him with his new band.

the difference is a lot of people go to ed's concerts because they know him from the band live while most people dont even know the guys from TGF were in live...they are ignorant fans but thats the case

I think that's a total assumption on your part.
