Got locked in on Sing there...could of edited but fuck it. Just wanted to add that no matter how much I listen, I can't even begin to like TROY or Silly Thing. /They don't fit on this album in my opinion and I have no love for them watsoever. They both remind me of songs 311 or Matchbox 20 might have made and I really dislike both of those bands.

Sorry to anybody who likes those two songs, but I just feel they detract from this album quite severely. They change the flow in a negative poppy kind of way and just don't fit to me.

I said they sound like 311 songs a while back - and I've always liked 311.

I'm really loving Sing right now. My kid was singing "Sing my song" in the hallway. I asked her where she heard it and she said in the car. Apparently she love it too - it's her favorite song on the album (she's 2).

I had to wait to pick as well. Cd is def growing o me now. Took a bit. But i chose honest man because it's just an IN yo FACE rock song and the riffage is most excellent. rockin.gif

I think everyone is going to have the album hit them in different ways. The way you feel about TROY and Silly Things, I kind of feel about What's Wrong. That's not to say I don't like What's Wrong, I do. But it had that familiar pop radio feel to me. And considering how starved we are for something here in NY that isn't either pop radio or classic rock, it's a very familiar feeling.

What's Wrong is not a song I go back to repeatedly, but it's a song that just makes me think about sitting somewhere watching a sunset. Maybe on top of a hill or on a bridge... somewhere vast or open.

I think it's a song that is more about trying to capture a particular moment more than it is about trying to be terribly original or whatnot. Not necessarily in sound, but the song reminds me of something Counting Crows might write. Their songs had that feel about them.

I think it's more your perception of the song than it is the song itself. You may just need to listen to it in a different context than what you've been listening to it in.

Just to be clear. I love the song, just like I love the entire album. My post was more about how the songs hit different people in different ways.

One of the big things I love about this album is that it isn't all at one speed. I enjoy the change-of-pace and the fact that even the slower songs have a complexity to them that has me hearing something new every time I listen to them.

And I listen to all of them.......a lot...... lol.gif

i don't get the hype over "crying time"... just a lil too sappy for me... and, i don't feel like it has that "uniqueness" to it that most of the other songs have... i just feel like i've heard it before. but, i haven't had the album a week yet, so......

but, hands down, lock it and throw away the key... the best song.. or at least my favorite, is "nothing but love"... that song packs a punch that i have never heard before. freaking awesome.

tredecim is right there with ^^^^ but, it doesn't make me want to drive 100 mph... but, it does remind me of singing a nazi chant... (for days upon days i've sailed for your shores..."

i'm actually excited about music again.... but, the only problem is, is that i have a sneaky suspicion that "the gracious few" wont get huge. why? cause they don't sound like SHINEDOWN, NICKELBACK, GODSMACK, etc.... but, hopefully i'm wrong... cause they're better.

WELL THANK GOD FOR THAT!!!

Who needs or would even want another Nickelback. There are bands like Theory of a Deadman & Cavo to take care of that.

It's so early to tell what their success will be. A friend of mine in work asked me to show her the Honest Man video. She said it was a little heavy for her, so I told her they had some slower, not so heavy songs I think she would like. I gave her a CD today and she emailed me every 5 minutes, every time a new song came on telling me how much she loved it.

Just have to keep passing the word around and the music will speak for itself! I got a NEW RECRUIT today!! thumbsup.gif

Silly Thing is my favorite. Lyrics aren't as strong as I'd like, but really enjoy the overall sound.

Second would be Sing.

i'm really surprised that "nothing but love" isn't more peoples fav. to me, this song sounds so much like a LIVE song. to me, it sounds like an "i alone", "she", "show" type of song that LIVE was known for. i absolutely love how the song is low key and the builds to a higher volume right before the chorus... love it.
