Thanks for clarifying Kevin. You have the best voice for TGF, hands down by far!!! I have been waiting for this record for 10 years......It's far above my expectations. You guys knocked it out of the park for me. See you on tour man.

QUOTE(Bremang @ Sep 23 2010, 1:21 am) *

So what if Nick hates TGF, does things in spite of CCP, makes comments about the music industry that might not be correct, loves Ed and post-2001 Live, etc. From what I understood, his main beef was about Chad Taylor making public announcements about his disdain for Ed. I feel there are valid arguments for and against what Chad did. Even Chad renounced letting the cat out of the bag to some extent. That doesn't make Nick a bad apple in my opinion, even if it is annoying. From that rationale, everyone who has been ranting or has an extreme opinion about Ed would be a bad apple as well because the truth about the breakup is unknown right now, no matter how much you assert otherwise.

Kevin should take note that while TGF is mostly about 5 guys making music they love, Chad Taylor, and to some extent CG, has perpetuated a side commentary on Ed for over a year, which I think is easily the proximate cause of mudslinging around here. Still, Kevin suggests that everyone give each other a break when it comes to their opinion of the people making the music, TGF, CB and Ed. That is good.

This shit again!? Get over it!

Hi Kevin!,

I've only been a member of this forum a short time myself, but long enough to realize the are a number of analogies that describe this forum accurately. I saw in an interview recently that you described this new collaboration as "getting a new girlfriend". Well, participating in this forum is like meeting that new girlfreind's dysfunctional family. I mean that affectionately, of course. I also equate it to a trainwreck-it's a tragedy, but you just can't seem to look away. Or it's like the Godfather saying "I tried to get out, but they keep pulling me back in". Seriously though, there's nothing subtle about this forum. It's not indicative of "a collection of sheep toting the party line". This board is a group of real individuals, each with it's own opinion and each all are willing to express their opinion. This is what attracts me to this board as well as the subject matter-new kick ass rock and roll. It's clear emotions run freely here. We are emotionally driven and that emotion is coming from the new music TGF has provided us. TGF has got us excited, you've provided us something new, something bold, something fresh, something we've been missing for awhie. I'm sure you've realized that as you peruse this board, you've got mad love and support from 97% of this forum. Our excitement, though, prevents us from ignoring the 3% that are trying to undermine our enthusiasm. We feel we need to protect TGF as if we've taken ownership of it-of course that is rediculous, but hey! rationale be damned. As musicians, surely you know you've inspired us, invoked our emotions whether positive or negative. To me this represents the true meaning of art and how I judge success. I'm a 45 year old white collar professional who has no business participating on an internet forum such as this. But I share a kindred spirit with the rest of the members here in saying that TGF makes me feel like I'm 16 years old again-and I thank you. I will see you guys in Indy in November and I hope to shake your hand and thank you in person. Long live TGF!

Thanks for the clarification Kevin, and I'm glad it wasn't my thread title that started the rant! I think your voice kicks ass and I really appreciate how you tried a lot of different things on the new record.

As for the mudslinging, it does get out of hand at times, but there are a lot of us who don't really take it all that seriously. That wouldn't be really apparent without daily visits here. Though, I can say that certain people have been more annoying lately than they ever have been.

Thanks for taking the time to post with us, it shows a lot about who you are and how much you care about the fans!

I decided to just become a lurker, but I had to log back in to say this.

This is the single greatest post that I have ever read here. Every word of it. You expressed my thoughts and perspectives, and summed up this whole message board and my strange addiction to it and my addiction to Live and TGF in one masterful post. Thank you.

I'm glad that Kevin took the time to post a follow-up. Whether he intended it or not, the words of his first post was a chastisement of this message board. I'm not some college kid who sits around in my sweat pants drinking beer in my Cherios and hangs around on Facebook and message boards all day. I'm a grown adult with a pretty great life and plenty of self-respect. His post really struck a nerve with me. I had a moment of clarity - like I saw myself in the mirror - and I was embarrassed by what I saw. Why do I spend so much time in this strange place, where people launch vulger attacks at each other and where the singer of a band in which I invested the last 6 months of devotion says it's like high school, he doesn't give a f*ck if I like his music, that I love their music more than life, I wouldn't exist without their music, and that if what he says bothers me, then I have "issues". Maybe it was a hot-headed emotional post or I took it the wrong way, but it made me seriously reevaluate what the hell I'm doing here and how much time I'm spending around here.

The fact that Kevin has taken the time to even come to this board and not only read but to share his thoughts is absolutely awesome! I can see how he and Chad T get alog well. They seem to be real down to earth people, I know Chad was when I met him a couple of times!

Anyway, Kevin, in case you read this I am a long time diehard LIVE fan but never had any intrest in Candlebox. For no reason really, just never exposed to any of the music other than the radio hits. However, after you involvement with TGF I have to say that I really like what I hear from Candlebox and your voice. I have moved on from LIVE and am loving every song on the TGF album! It's been so long since I bought an album I had so much excitement for and for it to live up to expectations!

I will see you guys in Atlanta! rockin.gif

Make sure you check out Kevin Martin and The Hiwatts - The Possibility of Being. Outstanding album.

Fish, I don't know about you, but I come here because I think it is really entertaining, and because when I stopped visiting I missed the TDTH demo for about a year.

If Ed himself had come on ANY threads about the lawsuit or his music and posted something like this, he would have earned a new level of respect from me.

I can see how excited everyone is about Kevin's posts as well fans should be. I think it would be exciting for Ed to post, too. However, I have read and heard where many celebrities and politicians try not to look at fan forums. I think they hear a lot in everyday life about their talents/performances/etc. To go into a forum such as this, certain things said or implied might be hard to take. I would think that their personal interactions with fans at their shows would be what ties them to their fan base and I have heard that Ed has always been welcoming in that way, offering photos with fans, etc.

Also, I don't think he would be wise and probably has been told by his lawyer not to comment on the lawsuit. Opens the door for something being said which could be taken out of context, etc.

Live2cd: I made a new thread so we can talk about Candlebox and people don't have to read it if they don't want to! I also never heard Lover Come Back to Me on the tour, which was sad because it was one of my favorites. I like a lot of that album but there's a little too much mellow stuff in there for me.

Nitro: I know Sean toured with the Hiwatts, but I don't see his name in the liner notes of the album? Was he before the album or afterwards?

Feel free to answer that in the new thread!

[Edit by dangum]
Here's the thread that thefunkyredcaboose is talking about. I have moved the Candlebox/HiWatts discussion here: Talkin' 'bout Candlebox/Hiwatts, New fans, old fans, everybody now!
