Ummm... No.

I think we've figured out that KM misunderstood the "Another Failed Promotion" title of the thread. If you indeed read the entire thread, you will notice that there is very little judgment or criticism of TGF, and a hell of a lot of support.

I don't see anyone kissing ass, just trying to clear up a possible mis-understanding.

I don't know why I'm bothering to explain. I really don't care if you like TGF or EK, just please stop being such an ass.

Every day I come to this board and wonder why I don't hit the "ignore" button on SJN. Then I realize that most of the threads wouldn't make any sense since he comes and drops a load in all of them.

How did you figure that out, did Kevin Martin tell you? Or are we using spin?

A possible misunderstanding? He outright called the members of FansofLive a bunch of losers, and that CCP had worthless fans.

Support who you want to support, but this just confirms to be that Kevin Martin has no ability to absorb criticism and likes to tear others down to make himself look good.

Where is the criticism in this thread other than you and Hoody trying to catch him in a factual error? That is why we are assuming it was a misunderstanding.

He didn't call the members of Fansoflive a bunch of losers, that is your spin, as those words appear nowhere in the entire message.

Who do you think you are fooling?

So let me get this straight, Kevin Martin tells the members of this board to go F themselves, and most of you proceed to kiss his ass.

That is deserving of a WOW.

He didn't get the nature of the thread,

I guess that is the part that surprises me and would concern me. That he would come onto this forum with such a strongly-worded post, maybe not even having read through the thread to get a thorough understanding of what the point of the thread was and what was being bantered back and forth.

The part that really stuck out was this:

"If this post makes has in any way upset or made you angry that was not my intention but if that is the case you may want to talk to someone about that, it's quite possible that you have issues far beyond the music!"

With him having the wrong impression of the thread in general, he decided to come on and make comments which could be to some a real "put-down" to them as posters and fans. He implies that if one is upset or threatened by his post, they might have "issues" which should be dealt with, perhaps with professional help.

Yet, he must have "issues" himself, in a way, to have reacted so strongly to the original topic of this thread and whatever discussion he did read. I guess I am thinking that maybe he comes off as being a little too "thin skinned" that he would let a public forum like this have him make a post which could alienate fans or potential fans.

No, but I've seen enough of his interviews, and he always finds time to rip another artist for no apparent reason. Also someone secure in what they were doing wouldn't feel the need to lash out at an entire community over a tinge of criticism.

I know you have an inside connection to CCP. You leaked their pairing with Kevin last year and the court documents. It is all good either way.

I have more respect for the man (KM) for being real. he speaks his mind and takes no shit. He missed the hidden jokes in pages 2-12. They've given more access to them as a band than anyone I can ever remember in my entire life. I applaud and I am grateful to what they are doing wholehardedly.

Dudes, don't take anything Dick says to heart. He's on this crusade to make Ed look good and TGF look bad. I don't know why he still thinks that dissing 'em on the fansoflive.com is going to score him EK brownie points, but there you go.

This forum is inevitably about the music and for the fans of the music and the talking points there-of. What of value has Dick brought to these boards lately? Nothing. He is truly one-dimensional in rationale and thought, and the majority of the active members on this forum are having a good laugh at his exploits.

In the end, it's all about a lonely guy, singing his happy songs and in denial that his idol is no longer what he thought he was - and is trying to right that by making the other party look bad, as opposed to actually dealing with the facts.

For Dick, this is not about music any longer, but about Ed's tainted rep.

Edit: Whoops dudes, apologies on my behalf - it seems my buds here have corrected me - it's not Dick, but Nick. Not that it needed clearing up.

Been tackled too many times playing football Nick? He's mentioned in his interviews about differences with other artists, not to rip them venomously.....but to point out differences. You lose the context of every interview......dude. time to see the psychiatrist.

The thin skinned ones are those that are offended by his post. He basically said the high school mudslinging is, well, high schoolish. And there is basically one lead cheerleader. If you don't agree then maybe you have issues.

I understand why you would interpret it this way, but given the title of the thread and the subsequent posts it really looks quite negative. It branched off another thread, but that was never really mentioned and only alluded to.

That combined with the people on the thread who really DID say negative things about the interview, then well, there you go.

Whether I agree with the approach or not is an entirely other issue, but I can't fault him for speaking his mind. You can call him "thin-skinned" if you want, but in the end we all assume that people in public positions should be able to withstand ANY criticism. It is a free pass to shit on them. That is unfair to them as human beings.

If Ed himself had come on ANY threads about the lawsuit or his music and posted something like this, he would have earned a new level of respect from me.

Lastly, with the part you quoted, doesn't it prove his point that some have come on here and called him an "asshole," "egomaniac," etc. etc. Those responses proved his point entirely.

And this is exactly the point we are making. KM's post was not directed at everyone. It's about people who are nit-picking and taking issue, like a teenager (no offense to those in their teens), throwing a tantrum about this and that.

Here's the band - here's the cd - discuss it - awesome/hate it? Good. It's still hear for those that wanna listen. Fuck all your side issues.

I don't see what the big problem is with what he had to say? He was stating everything up front, and not beating around the bush. Forget Ed. This isn't about Ed any longer. Love him or hate him, Ed gave us many years of LIVE and we love him for it, but that's where it ends.

When we discuss his behavior, which many on these boards have witnessed - no lies, no exaggerated stories - just accounts of the various times he's been a dick, and you pair that behavior to what's been alleged and coupled with his shitty music, as opposed to the 1991-2000 (1985-2000 for some heh!), then you can deduce that what has been said is plausible.

But generally, people have come out honestly and spoken their minds on Ed and his new music, as have many about TGF. The positive response to TGF has certainly out-shone Ed's on this board. Nick doesn't like it. But, with all due respect...Fuck you, Nick. Grow some. You coulda just come out and said, nah TGF - not for me thanks. And upped Ed. At least that way, you'd have the respect of some - and I can tell you, many people had time for Nick's posts in the past, but that has faded with Ed's rep. Instead, Nick and Ed come off as dried-up has-been douches which is unfortunate, cos you only have yourselves to blame.

I personally did not think TGF would catch on as fast as they have - and that is awesome. I really hope they take off and become as successful as LIVE has - they all deserve it. Even Ed, in some sick twisted way.
