QUOTE(iamurme @ Sep 22 2010, 1:12 am) *

WOW,

I haven't been here in ages and honestly I really shouldn't be here now but seriously this is like fucking high school. I never thought in a million years that there would be so much mud slinging about a group of friends that decided that they wanted to make a record and hoped that everyone that loved, supported and had been affected by what they had done as MUSICIANS, in their respected bands, would SUPPORT their new efforts as said MUSICIAN/SONG WRITERS.

This band, The Gracious Few, love making music, are great friends and above all wanted to give you, as well as themselves, something new to attach yourselves to but alas that seems to have been missed as though 1 bad apple gave everyone the right to talk all sorts of shit without any regard to the feelings of the men that made the music that you all at ONE POINT LOVED MORE THAN LIFE IT'S SELF!

Live started in 85' Hoodstock and if you were a real Live fan you would know that. I have known these boys, ED included, since 1993, have had the pleasure of playing several shows with them since then and am quite sure I know them better than any one on this message board and remember this simple fact. Without the music that Live, Ed's solo record and Candlebox, YOU simply do not exist!

I forgive you for the negative, appreciate all of you for the positive and sincerely hope that each and everyone of you finds it in your hearts to quit judging CCPS & myself for what it is that we love doing. We are not judging you, not telling you that you suck and only wish all of you the best. I'm sure that CC&P are glad to call you fans but if this is the way you're gonna treat them I think they are sorely mistaken.

I'm done with this message board but please don't keep yourselves from experiencing great music because you're jaded. Whether it's Eddy K, Live or The Gracious Few there is great music to be absorbed and enjoyed and by the way we never gave a FUCK if you liked what we did because frankly we were doing it for OURSELVES!

If this post makes has in any way upset or made you angry that was not my intention but if that is the case you may want to talk to someone about that, it's quite possible that you have issues far beyond the music!

Sincerely,
Kevin Martin
Singer
The Gracious Few

Uh, what?

I've got too much going on in my life to be scolded and called a high schooler by the singer of a rock band who doesn't "give a F*CK if I like his music because he is doing it for [himself]". This is just a source of entertainment for me - everything from the great music to the entertaining bickering on this message board. But I've been embarassed to be a poster on this message board many times before, and this is icing on the cake. If anybody needs me, I will be allocating most of my attention to thegraciousfans.com now.

What's going on here?

Most people on this board love TGF. According to that poll it's over 80% who do like the album.
So, I see no mudslinging at TGF, really. At Ed, yeah, but he deserves it.

That statement just shows what an egocentric idiot Kevin Martin truly is. The guys from Live may have started playing together in 1985, but no one heard of the band until the early 90s. Kevin mispoke in the interview but he refused to admit his mistake.

I am pretty sure we would all exist without Live and Candlebox. We would just be following other things. Without the fans, Kevin Martin would exist, but no one would give a shit.

The fact that Kevin chastised the entire message board community shows how clueless he really is. He has criticized Ed and Daughtry(among others) in his interviews, but simply
can't deal with criticism himself. If Kevin called me out for specific comments, that would have been cool(and probably deserved). However he put down all of his supporters as well. He's just a fool.

The Gracious Few indeed. shrug.gif

I think the topic of this thread has mis-led many people. We generally 'know' the 'tones' of the regular posters on this forum, so personally, I took it as sarcasm - but I think many people failed to see it that way unfortunately.

I just hope I jumped the gun and missed something, and KM really knew this thread was sarcastic, and will return to these boards.

It would suck if he hesitated to return here down to a misunderstanding. OTD, maybe you could clear that up with the TGF'ers?

Buddy, your fruitless, meaningless posts are as transparent as you are. So don't kid yourself by wasting time posting stuff in the attempt to make TGF look bad - because that is hardly going to happen around here - especially since many TRUE LIVE FANS, and I exclude you from that list, will have enjoyed TGF and failed to be impressed by anything said, sang or released by Ed Kowalczyk.

You won't be convincing anyone with the rep you've attained from your one-sided 'iammrperfect' style of of posting.

Alright, I am going to break this down really easily for you:

1. HE WAS REFERRING TO WHEN THE BANDS STARTED PLAYING TOGETHER IN THE INTERVIEW. How do you not get that? It is YOU who can't admit when they are wrong, or you are just too foolish to comprehend what I am saying to you.

2. He wasn't saying that we as people would not exist, but that THIS FORUM would not exist.

3. I am a huge supporter of TGF and Candlebox, and I don't think he was putting me down at all. I think he was putting down the people who just post on this board to bash the band, or just post on the Ed board to bash Ed. There are very few people who haven't been guilty of at least one of those, and his post was a reminder that in the end the musicians are people too. What's wrong with that?

You can call Kevin whatever name you want, but he cares far more about his fans than a lot of musicians. How often do you see a band member reading and responding on a message board? I would take that approach any day over an artist who doesn't even pay attention to their fans on the internet.

I did send a message to the team tgf explaining that this sarcasm thread to make fun of a negative thread started by Nick saying their promotion is a failure.

I do think Kevin mis-understood as others have said pointed out.

Changing the title takes some steam off of the humor of course, but......it is what it is. We can still poke fun, TGF is doing way more marketing and exposure of getting their name out there than said one person has declared.. Might have to start calling Nick Lord Voldemort or 'the one who cannot be named'

I gotta be honest, most of the time when I am making music I am ultimately doing it for myself. It is just icing if people enjoy it. I can see where that could come off as selfish, but that is musician talk for "we are going to do what we want whether you like it or not" and that is a sentiment I can totally get behind.

Thank You!

I think we can safely say that Nick's primary function in life is to shit-stir. I can't think of a single nor consecutive instance where he posted something and someone said "Wow hey good point". He really has THAT little to add.

No worries FRK, if I were the OP I would not have taken offense to what KM was saying either - as there was not a hint of dishonesty in what he said. Whether justified to the topic (being out of context at that time) or not, it is still the truth.

Only someone with a limited understanding of how this and other fan forums work, would jump at the opportunity to assume KM was attacking fans, which I am 100% sure he was not.

Although it is unfortunate that some people have failed to see the intended humour in this thread, I'm glad the topic of this thread changed! thumbsup.gif
