I know that there is a bit of talk about whether any TGF songs are about Ed. I don't like to subscribe to conspiracy theories, but every time I listen to the lyrics to All I Hear, all I can think of is that every single word of those lyrics could be directed at Ed by disgruntled ex-band members. Is it a coincidence that this is the ghost track and that the lyrics aren't printed? Has anyone else listened close to those lyrics and thought this? Here's my best shot at the lyrics:

I feel it
You've got the gun
Made me realize,
I hold the trigger

Both of us knowing
We both are alike
Both digging deeper

I could hold you for ransom
or free you
yes free you from my love

Everyone's singing like everything's fine-

I don't want to change for the sake of change.
I don't want to bring back yesterdays
I don't want to know who's who, what's what
Just give me that goddamn truth today

Your getting your back up, but you know
You'll never get over

You're people are answer adverse
Yes their adverse overthrown

A cou d'etat by the Few, yes the Gracious [EDITED]
The Gracious, the bold

I don't want to change for the sake of change.
I don't want to bring back yesterdays
I don't want to know who's who, what's what
Just give me that goddamn truth today

[something] goddamn diamonds forever
You white folks can sing your blues,
they'll love ya, they'll love your singing, big brother

All your street lights forever
Bring bad news.
Yes your egos have seen.
Say brother, them white folks keep [spinning around] with you
Hey remember, he's squeaky clean

I don't want to change for the sake of change.
I don't want to bring back yesterdays
I don't want to know who's who, what's what
Just give me that goddamn truth today

[something] goddamn diamonds forever
You white folks can sing your blues,
they'll love ya, they'll love your singing, big brother

All your street lights forever
Bring bad news.
Yes your egos have seen.
Say brother, them white folks keep [spinning around] with you
Hey remember, he's squeaky clean

I don't want to change for the sake of change.
I don't want to bring back yesterdays

I don't want to change for the sake of change.
I don't want to bring back yesterdays

I don't want to change for the sake of change.
I don't want to bring back yesterdays

I don't want to change for the sake of change.
I don't want to bring back yesterdays

I haven't read every post word for word, but I saw that some people think that a ong on the album is about Ed. Is this the one people are talking about?

No, it's 'The Few'

I've quietly thought this one is, nice job with the lyrics.

I have to say, if you look at these lyrics, it is practically obvious. The lyrics mention a singer, the singer singing like everything's fine, the singer making others think he is squeaky clean, the singer having an ego, the singer's people being averse to having an answer (or being answer adverse) (i.e. the court case answer to the complaint), cutting the singer loose, both parties digging their heals in, not wanting to go back to yesterday, not wanting to change, wanting the truth. Wow. This song went from good to great my eyes, just due to the testicular fortitude.

that song was written well in advance of ed's attorney's answer to the suit, but it is compelling....or it references, his one statement saying he's done nothing wrong.

In the context of the lyrics, I think the song kick royal ass!!!

Hmm I'm not hearing the same thing you are, Fish, but what I think I hear doesn't make a ton of sense so I'm probably way off!

Your ???? ????, you got them
Got them diamonds forever I tell ya
them white folks been singing your blues, they love ya
love ya singing big brother

your street lights forever bring bad news
yes your egos are seen, say never
them white folks keep spitting on you, hey mama
at least we keep clean

I just don't know about all of the lyrical interpretations to these songs. I mean this stuff is so subjective. Does anyone know who actually wrote which lyrics to which songs? I know that CG, CT, and PD don't have much of a history of writing lyrics although that may be different now. Would or could Kevin have the anomosity to generate such pointed lyrics directed at Ed for past transgressions he was not involved in? Cetainly CG, CT, and PD could have contributed or helped shape the lyric to reflect their feelings. Who really knows? I know there are some on this board who have access to the "inner circle", who've talked with band members. Can you shed any light on this topic-like who wrote what lyrics?. It is certainly interesting. All I know is that music fans are notoriously wrong when it comes to interpreting the meaning of lyrics/songs. I mean how many times have we heard, "I listened to that song but didn't know it meant that!" The jury is still out as far as I'm concerned.

The guys are said to have contributed writing lyrics on this record. It's in some of the interviews.

After more listens I'm suspecting there might be a political bend to the song. Not 100% sure though.

I think you guys are reading too much into this one, especially since the accuracy of the lyrics is debatable. smile.gif
