QUOTE(Bremang @ Sep 18 2010, 8:16 pm) *

It is a common notion because musicians can be particular about how they want to release recordings, and they might be content when unofficially released material is considered to be special amongst fans.

I get that in *most* situations, but this is one where the song in question has been featured in two movies, performed live recently, and a recording has circulated amongst the hardcore fans (arguably, the ones the band would be releasing the song for in the first place).

I don't think the song has the "mystique" that Ed claims it does, my guess is it has gotten caught up in record label contracts during the attempts to release it. This song not getting on the soundtrack for Zach and Miri was a huge letdown for me and most everyone here.

Now, New City, Change, Wash the Blood Away... there is some special unreleased material.

Who knows, maybe if he released it for Z and M he wouldn't be able to cash in on an exclusive release on a bsides album.

QUOTE(Bremang @ Sep 18 2010, 2:28 pm) *

Ed has mentioned fairly recently in an interview that he likes Hold me Up as being unreleased. I forget his exact words, but he said he liked how the song has developed its own mystique, for lack of better term, as an unreleased gem.

If true (I said if) then Ed is a bigger asshole than I even thought he was.

Here it is. In retrospect I think this is an intersting interview. I thought the interviewer had some good questions. Ed says that he is aware that fans might not like how Live hasn't released Hold Me Up. Hood...don't blame Ed just yet, we really have no idea why it was not released.

Wow thanks for the link. Not only the Hold me Up statement was interesting to hear, but Ed said just "Live's not breaking up, I'm just doing a solo album". That was a short time when one thing didnt mean the end of the other. Nowadays Ed doesnt use the L-word hardly ever when talking about his solo record. Which leads me to believe even more that Ed is lying in most of his interviews when he said he 'just wants to do something new'.

Btw, I guess they keep Hold Me Up unreleased until 2019, TC's 25th b-day, when Live reunites!

I know you weren't serious about the Live reunion, but here are my 2 cents on that idea. It ain't happening. Ever. What certain people who think this is a possibility fail to realize is that the bands who have done this generally left on OK terms. What Ed did is so awful and despicable that the damage is irreparable. Ed fucked it up for everyone, to be sure.

I agree with you on this Ex. I believe Live is done for good, as well they should be. It would take a 180 degree turn and total apologies from Ed and an allowance that they ALL write together again. Also, CG, CT, and PD would have to be in total control to prevent what's happening now from ever happening again. This is all moot because I don't believe Gracey would participate (he seems to be the most angy, IMO) and I don't believe Ed has it in him to admit any wrongdoing with his monster ego. Bedsides, I think TGF has a good thing going and may create a few more albums. This is just my opinion of course.

Not so. Van Halen, for ex.

Not so. Van Halen, for ex.

there were no real musical creative differences other than they were tired of Dave's act...no fiduciary issues, no backstabbing......it's a separate type of thing, but that said.....it took 24 years for that to happen.

I followed Van Halen's whole career, while you were still crapping your diapers.

Are you familiar? You can't be, as you proclaim that you don't like the hard rock genre.
