Nope, I think it was funny. It is a great swipe at some of the Americans on this board who think only the charts in America matter, but it was also funny because it is well, it is the Netherlands.

I will recant if the poster was serious, but to me it seemed like comedic gold and the reactions were even better.

Who cares about charts, I don't care that Ed got no higher than 166 on Billboard or TGF didn't chart on the Dutch chart after one week.

TGF is like a slow burn!!!

OTD its okay to care about charts as long as you admit it. You are the one declaring chart war and stuff. Just be a man and own up to it! angry.gif

Position charts one thing, sales is another. Thats what I want to see in this case. So I will own up to it.

I will post the charts when I get my hands on them....i did say war to Nick, so to entertain him.

My bootstraps are pulled up, hardhat is on, bayonette out and sharpened.

Listen girls. You need to settle down (no TGF pun intended here).

All that matters is that Alive sells in the Netherlands (in my home country). No one cares about the United States. If the Gracious Few do not sell well here, then in my book they are a failure!

CASE CLOSED.

Man, I was on the Candlebox site to see what fans were saying about the album. I think that place is dead cause their is no action there.

The Candlebox web presence took a severe downturn when they split in the late 90s. The board was moderately active when the new album came out but it wasn't able to sustain it.

It is entirely possible that there is a Candlebox fan site out there where people are chatting, or either the discussions have moved to Facebook.

Nick, ya little goober, didn't you get enough hugs as a kid?

Having said that, both sides do have some posts that seem to take things a little too seriously. "My chart can beat up your chart!" kinda stuff.

Whether or not Nick started this with all sincerity or just to stir the pot, it reminds me of the scene in "Singles" when Matt Dillon is giving a completely serious response to an interviewer, not knowing how silly he sounds. He's discussing his local Seattle band and declares something like, "For instance, our album just broke big in Belgium".

According to wikipedia these are the peak numbers Live albums managed to achieve in the Netherlands:

Throwing Copper – 5
Secred Samadhi – 4
The Distance to Here – 2
V – 1
Birds of Pray – 1
SFBM - 1

Based on Nick’s logic, Live of 2000s is better than Live of 1990s. So his “position-in-charts” approach does not work because we all know that the Live of 1990s is absolute gold.. But he seems to be desperate in “proving” that TGF is a complete failure.
