I didn't use stars or numbers for ratings. Just typed out reactions for me!

1.) Appetite: A fantastic opener and one of my favorites on the album. The lyrics are a standout. The song sounds light but the lyrics, especially during the verses, are very heavy and it creates a great contrast.

2.) Honest Man Angry, frustrated, violent rock. Love it. LOVE it. It was the right song at the right time in my life. Years down the road I'll be able to pop in Honest Man, just like I can Run to the Water today and be instantly transported back in time and feel the same emotions I felt when I first heard the song. I spent a long time trying to find a job in this shitty economy and eventually had to settle for a TERRIBLE one. This song was the soundtrack to that time for me and the two will forever be associated with one another.

3.) Guilty Fever This is probably my least favorite song on the album. Not to say the song is bad, it's a great rocker and is better then 90% of the schlock rock out there today. It just doesn't do it for me, I find myself thinking about the next few tracks whenever this one is playing.

4.) The Few We can debate all day what the lyrics may point towards but there's no debate over the fact that this song kicks major ass. The bridge and the transition into it is just killer.

5.) The Rest of You I, admittedly, worried after hearing the fat daddy's boot that this was a filler song (which is a term I'm sure songwriters hate). After hearing it on the Amazon stream and on the CD I've done a 180. This is a great song. I can't help but nod my head and tap my foot when this song comes on.

6.) Crying Time I can't listen to this song and not get chills, especially during Sean's incredible solo. He does great things on this album, and has better stand alone solos then what he does in Crying Time, but I think this is his stand out song. His solo hits in just the right way and takes this song to another level. I feel the same way listening to the solo in this song that I do when I listen to Ed K singing "Ohhh why" during Lightning Crashes on TC. For me, this is the LC of the CD, the transcendent ballad that builds and takes you to a completely new level by the end. Everything, the bass, drums, KMs lyrics all build towards that solo where you can hear the band screaming through Sean's guitar "Why? Why did it have to end this way?"

7.) Silly Thing I said it before and I'll say it again: this is the pop rock song of the album. It's got a catchy, poppy quality to it, but it never forgets the rock part of "pop rock." By the end I'm not just bobbing my head, I'm head banging.

8.) Closer When I listen to this song I can feel my balls getting bigger. It's got edge, it's got bite, it's rock and fucking roll. This song hits me like Devour and White, Discussion did when after I hear it I'm like "Holy fuck! Where's the damn repeat button!?" At the moment this has to be my favorite song on the album.

9.) What's Wrong This was another song I wasn't wild about on the Fat Daddy's boot that I've grown to like more and more as I hear it on the CD. Not my favorite but I enjoy listening to it. Kevin's vocals in this song make it work.

10.) Tredecim This is a great dark song. It's musically the most interesting song on the album and probably better then any other song paints a vivid picture with not just the lyrics but the guitar, base and drum lines as well. I can feel the turbulence and crashing of the waves as the song progresses.

11.) Nothing But Love I think after the dust settles and time has passed this will end up as my favorite song on the album. Pat lays down the groove and the rest of the band plays off it. It kind of has the same love/lust theme that guilty fever does but, at least for me, portrays it much better. It's a song I just have to listen to again after it finishes playing.

12.) Sing For about the first half of the song I found myself thinking "well this is nice, not great, but nice." I liked the twist in the music as many of the other songs are rather dark and heavy. However, when the bridge comes this song kicks up to another level. The first half may have lulled you into a pleasant pseudo listening but the bridge comes and punches you in the face and says "pay the fuck attention, this is the gracious few!" By the time the solo transitions back into the chorus you can't help but sing along with Kevin. Easily in my top five for the album.

13.) All I Hear I love the rhythm Kevin puts into the verses, it makes the song stand out on the album. Even better, the song does not skip on the ROCK, especially when the bridge comes. This song would kick ass on the radio, and it'd be even more bad ass in concert. If people aren't throwing their bodies around during this song there's something wrong with them.

I had high, high expectations for this album, in no small part to the incredible hype train piloted by TGF themselves. This album has exceeded my expectations in every way imaginable. I can't listen to anything else right now, it has to be TGF or all I'm doing is thinking "damn, when is this song over? I want to listen to Closer/Appetite/All I Hear/etc." This CD ranks at the top for me right now, I like it better then I do even Mental Jewelry and The Distance to Here. Only after some time has passed though will I be able to truly say if it's a good CD, a great CD, or the best CD I own. Regardless, I'm fired up for the tour and hope this CD and the tour sell well. These guys deserve it and this album deserves it. It's the best collection of rock and roll I've heard in years.

It seems like the reviews for Closer are very mixed on ITUNES and I must say that I'm surprised. I would think that any fan of real hard rock and roll would dig this one. A lot of people are having the exact opposite reaction.

The feeling of their balls growing is strange and unfamiliar to them. I'm willing to give them time to come around.

376 ratings on iTunes website, 3 and a half star is the average. Not too bad, but it is kind of surprising that it's called like any other rock band out there....
