Since several people have already done such great reviews, I don't need to add my own review of the album. I'll just say this:

I had listened to the whole album streaming on Amazon before my cd came, and I thought that I had heard the album. But I listened to the cd in my BMW which has an amazing sound system and I have to tell you - this album SOUNDS fantastic! It just SOUNDS great. It SOUNDS better than any album I have heard in ages. It doesn't sound compressed or flat. There is no comparison between Alive and TGF. Congratulations to Jerry Harrison or whoever is responsible for the SOUND of this album. It is a masterpiece. My car was vibrating from the bass. The drums are alive throughout the whole album. The guitar chords are deep and rich. The vocals are nuanced. Just amazing.

As I listened to the album, I fealt like I was reunited with old friends. Chad, Chad and Pat: whare have you been? I haven't become aquainted with you like this for a long, long time. Welcome back. They sound like a bunch of guys who have been caged up for 10 years waiting to get out.... oh yeah, that's right... lol.gif

This is my favorite album of all time right now. I am blown away. I don't have words to describe it. I was actually feeling emotional listening to it. Crying Time got me weepy - and I don't even have any explanation as to why.

I actually feel blessed to be one of the few hundred hard core fans around the world who are so committed, supportive and intimately involved with this release. Whatever the sales numbers are, this album is special.

The combo of Jerry Harrison and TLA is definitely a nice one!!

It was mastered by the same guy who did Ed's album, but clearly not mixed by him.

That is brilliant, Fish!

and i've got another story to share. Yet again went hoe from work 2 hours early (ha! holidays come after tomorrow so fuck em!) and dropped into 5 shops on my way. I informed tham allon the release, couple have made funny faces like who the fuck is that and a couple said: wow, rocknroll you say!we will look out on them!

And the last one was my fave shop in the neighbourhood. And guess what! My fave assistant was there! So I went directly towards him and asked straight away: Where's TGF? He was like: Who the fuck? I said: The Gracious Few! And he goes: Ok, and who the fuck are they? And I am like: vocals from Candlebox , guitar from Candlebox and instruments by Live. He was like: Whaaaaaat? KEvin has a sideproject?? (I go: whoa, he knows Candlebox), I reply: more of a full-time for now I think. Then the assistant starts laughing and saying: so Live fucked the bald one up? I go: No, he stole their money... and I drift into a 5 minute story of what has been with the band lately. He is like: WOW! They did the right thing! I go: you can not imagine how true those words are! The album is smashing, I got a digital copy, so now I want a CD. He pencils the title down and says: in 2 weeks you will have them. I will order 5 Cds and watch how it goes... and if I do not sell them during the month... I interfere him and say: Then you call me and I take them all. But believe me... You WILL sell them

And off i go smile.gif

When I popped the cd into my car, Appetite came on and at first I thought to myself, "Wow this is a long slow build up, I wonder what newcomers to this album will think of this rock'in album when their first impression is this intro." Then it occured to me. The guitar strumming and long intro kind of reminded me of Damn At Otter Creek. Did anyone else think of that?

Of course, then the song starts to rock!

Finally listened to the album earlier today...definitely a solid, albeit unspectactular, album. It's really nice to hear Chad, Chad, and Pat back doing what they do best...it's been way too long! Based on just one listen, my favorite track is still Crying Time (loved it since I first heard it). Although, it's not the greatest track on the album I think the song "What's Wrong" struck a chord with me the most on the album. I'm not sure if it's specifically about Live's breakup but it got me thinking about all the good times and the unfortunate bad times of the band and brought out a lot of emotion from me. I can't talk about the album without mentioning Sean and Kevin as they are just as big of a part of the band as CC&P. Sean is phenominal guitar player that adds a helluva lot to the album. Kevin Martin impressed me on the album also. For the most part, I think he does a great job except when he sounds like Bon Scott/Brian Johnson from AC/DC (mainly because I really am not a fan of that band).

As a Live fan, I really enjoyed both efforts (Ed and TGF). I'm not going to compare it to Live because it would be unfair to either side as I really don't have the emotional investment to either project like I did with Live. Live is my favorite band of all time and I'm not sure anyone can bring the whole package like the Ed, CT, CG, and Pat did together. Even though, they are not around anymore I appreciate that all 4 are still making music and I would rather have that than nothing at all. Here's to much more in the future!

Just came back from visiting my mom who is very ill at the moment. She knows about my Live obsession and heard of the projects that followed. Today I managed to let her listen to Waht's Wrong, Honest Man and Sing.

She has been a professional musician and a professor for about 30 years already. You know what she said? She hardly heard vocs that deep (except for Kowalczyk, she underlined) and she also said, that the music was very firm, strong and hard, the way it should be, delivered ith the nerve necessary.

And she also said: this music makes you wanna live.
