All of the unrelsead songs are very good and it would be great if we had them on an album. Three of them are classics and one of the best of all time: Lift me up, Supernatural and The beacon. Live has made a really big mistake for not releasing these songs.

I am just wondering, has fans' demand for releasing a B-sides album been made known to Live? If so, how did the guys react?

My apologies if this thread has been discussed again in this forum.

I highly doubt it. Plus the band doesn't own the recordings anyway, so it wouldn't be up to them.

I think it depends on the fact if the band likes this unreleased work still, or not. Maybe they aren't into it anymore, especially when you check their newer music. It's different, and when they aren't happy with that old material, they maybe won't bring it out, they must like it. And although I know a part of the unreleased stuff is as good as material on the 7 albums, they left the unreleased stuff out of the released stuff because of a reason... but hmm, I can't imagine they thought it wasn't good enough... no.gif

Yea, that sounds strange to me as well. There must be a better reason why they have left this material unreleased other than that they did not really like the material. They played Supernatural many times before the official release of TC but they never put it on an album... i don't think that it was because they did not like the song... if they did not like it then why did they play it in concerts?

You'll never see a B-sides album unless they decide to re-record them all, because the record company does own them. I've been told by people in the music industry that the B-Sides album usually comes when the artist wants out of their contract and owes the label another album, not because the fans want to have it. Like Pearl Jam did. Greatest hits albums often fill this requirement too, hello Awake!!

Oh, and lets not forget that Supernatural is a cover song, albeit an obscure one. Nor do I think was it ever recorded in studio by Live. So its not technically a B-side.

It sounds like it is difficult to have a Live B-sides album. I hope they will re-record some of the unreleased songs for their future new albums.... or am i dreaming?

Do we really want a cd with a lot of mediocre live versions of songs, crappy remixes and one real non-album b-side???

I'd say you're dreaming. I doubt the band would ever care that much to re-record them. They probably would rather write and record new material than take a step backwards.

Now I know some folks on this board are dying for them to take a step backwards, but I am not talking about the quality of then vs. now. Just old vs. new.

If I remember correctly a few years back we all signed a petition or something and someone gave it to Pat at a show along with a tape of the songs that we have heard and the quality of them hoping it would get a reaction. As you can see nothing ever came of it.

I think a Bsides cd would be awesome but a record company would never support it at this point. If they go Indy they could do it. Hell they could do anything they want to.

But then again, there is a reason the band never put those songs on a cd. They didn't like them enough. So it's quite possible they would still not want them out there.

I highly doubt we'll ever see any b-sides or outtakes released anytime soon. Such a shame. They should atleast put them up on iTunes or something like that, like alot of major bands have done recently. I highly doubt they'll do that either though, especially now that they're with Sony and their contract with Geffen is over.

Did it surprise you that it didn't work? He probably thought you (or whomever handed the thing to him) were a nutjob.

I actually had nothing to do with it and I was not the one that gave it to him. I'm just answering the person's question that started this thread.
