Now THAT is how you do a pop/rock song.

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Sep 7 2010, 1:30 pm) *

-Appetite, Honest Man, Tredecim, Guilty Fever, The Few, all sound like 70's rock retreads.

-The Rest of You is rock/pop with out of place vocals

-What's Wrong and Crying Time sound like typical light rock songs on a Candlebox album.

It is fine to like this type of music. It can't be classified as original though.

I'd like to re-emphasize what +Ed+ said, "What can be classified as original in 21 century?"

What he doesn't under is that Live wasn't necessarily original either. Their music could all be traced back to quite a few bands from the 80's and early 90's.

Gollum, you're a hack. Just accept the facts.

But it's just a 70's classic rock rip off!

HAHAHA. I couldn't even keep a straight face typing it. That's how ludicrous and retarded that statement is.

The funny thing is... 70's classic rock could probably be categorized as a rip off of 50's rockabilly. And 50's rockabilly was a rip off of... and so on and so forth.

One thing I love about these songs is that they is such depth to the music. Something is always going on that you can pick out, but at the same time it's not overloaded and overly hectic that you can't pull it all together. You'll hear Pat laying down some deep thick baseline. Gracey is pounding away on his set. Sean and Chad are each doing their own thing, and it just compliments so well together. Then you have Kevin's voice, which just fits the style perfectly.

Don't go and equate it to football practice. I coach high school football, and I will not be put into the same group as Gollum. You could have said he was inflating dodgeballs or greasing the climbing rope, but not football practice.

My apologies Aitkens. I've been hitting the tape here lately. I might have to stand in the corner, by my own hand.
