You are kidding right? Maybe if you have never heard the Talking Heads, The Cars, or any recent indie music.

I wouldn't ever claim TGF is original, but their sound is far from common right now. Wolfmother is the only other artist doing the classic rock throwback with any success, though TGF doesn't just do throwback rock. Since they are doing rock that is different from the current rock scene you will just need to get used to people calling them original. Its all relative though.

Man, you really do have sand in your vagina.

If you don't enjoy these tunes, that's fine. You think they're rip-offs - that's fine.

Ed's material sounds like Kelly Clarkson + Daughtry rolled into one ugly sound - not that anyone expected anything less - but that's fine.

But, above all this, I don't know who lied to you that only every post you make here is a 'fact' yet other people's valid posts are 'opinion'. Last I remember, you were still referencing Ed Kowalczyk a 'rcok' act and 'Alive' an awesome sounding album, so I don't know how anyone in their right mind can take you seriously, but anyway.

Stop being such a tit.

The best part is that he listens to the songs of a band he hates.

I have heard maybe 2 songs on Eddie K's album and I quit because I think it is uninspired trash. I certainly don't go around breaking down the songs. Hilarious.

Even better that Honest Man and Trecedim are classified as 70s rock retreads. How many bands in the 70s used drop D tuning? Not many, if any. Hilarious, hilarious stuff.

Back on topic...the songs sound real good to me. I'm not really into Guilty Fever, but everything else is enjoyable to me. Of course, I've only listened to each song once (except for Honest Man and Crying Time) so my opinions will likely change when I hear the album.

-Appetite, Honest Man, Tredecim, Guilty Fever, The Few, all sound like 70's rock retreads.

-The Rest of You is rock/pop with out of place vocals

-What's Wrong and Crying Time sound like typical light rock songs on a Candlebox album.

It is fine to like this type of music. It can't be classified as original though.

You continue to astound me. I am struggling to figure out how to respond to this level of cerebral density. Are you saying that if music fits into a genre or reflects influences of an era of rock, then it is not original? Based on your post, I take it that what you are saying is that music has to actually invent a whole new genre in order to be original. There can be an original light rock song or an original pop rock song. Appetite, Honest Man, Tredecim, Guilty Fever, and The Few are a lot of things, but retreads is most certainly not one of them.

Don't go and equate it to football practice. I coach high school football, and I will not be put into the same group as Gollum. You could have said he was inflating dodgeballs or greasing the climbing rope, but not football practice.

QUOTE(pizan0 @ Sep 7 2010, 9:36 am) *

I actually really like "The Rest of You" a lot. As I listen to it, I can't help but wonder if the guitar work on this one was CT's idea coming or one of those songs they purely wrote together. Either way, I get a little pissed thinking about how good the music on this one could have been in a Live song (but that's just me being nostalgic). Enough of that, though, I already like all of the songs, some more than others. Its refreshing to finally hear some well-written, heartfelt ROCK music. Getting pumped for Sept. 14 and NYC concert in November!!

On an interesting note, I realized the other day that I have had no compelling feeling whatsoever to buy Ed's record. And I say this not because of the bitter taste left in my mouth regarding his probable financial shenanigans (and possibly his over-roasted, cheap coffee - don't worry I didn't buy it lol.gif) but because I genuinely feel that the music is really poor in quality. The thought of listening to the album seems like a chore to me.

I've been a diehard Live fan since the early 90's and like most of you own all their albums and a ton of bootlegs. I only had to listen to the preview clips of Ed's album once to realize there was no way in hell I was spending my money on that crap. I think it was a wise decision to order 5 copies of TGF instead smile.gif thumbsup.gif
