QUOTE(FishOutaWater @ Aug 31 2010, 3:07 am) *

This goes to the very issue of the lawsuit and the decline in Live's music and why Ed was wrong to push the other three out of the songwriting process and why Ed is wrong to say that the other three are not songwriters in any meaningful respect and who was responsible for making Live great and who was responsible for causing Live to die! It took all 4 guys to make Live! Ed isn't Live without the other three, and TGF isn't Live without Ed.

This. A thousand million times this. If Ed was Live and the others wernt song writers then Alive would be full of moments where we had things akin to your examples in Mother Earth, Good Pain, Negation etc. It just doesn't add up. Saying he is correct about being the driving force of Live is just ignoring all these great points. I'd like to see someone try to offer a counter point. The only thing I can think of is - "Ed could still write another TBD on his own, he just doesn't want to! smile.gif". Ha!

How about adding a third option....it's alright.

But it's true though. Like I've said before, the big difference is the music from TGF envokes imagery. It creates little film clips in my head.

I don't think Ed likes the whole recording process anymore which is why since 'V' we have heard how short Live's studio time was.

although I fully agree with you post overall, I don't think that studio time argument totally fits. If I remember correctly, TC took even shorter to record then SFBM.

You're an idiot. I know this is your attempt at being funny but it just goes to show your lack of imagination and creative thinking and that goes hand in hand with the blandness that Ed supplys which you love.
But fair enough..

Ex - dude help me! I'm experiencing emotion and passion through music. I'm feeling inspired and stimulated mentally by music. This surely isn't normal. Help me see music purely through economic eyes!

Whatever dude. I just think you need to lighten up a bit. I also don't get your obsession with me. You mention me in at least 50 percent of your posts, and I hardly ever mention you at all. It is borderline creepy.

Dude don't talk creepy with your stalking habits. I'm plenty lightend up. That's my point, TGF does that for me. Ed in all of his positivity doesn't. I'm glad you don't mention me in 50% of your posts. I obviously don't chart well enough smile.gif
However my mentioning of you is because you embody almost all I dislike in a "music fan", it's not always you but you represent a group or collective of like minded people. I should start saying "the nicks of the world" then to be more correct.

Just because certain people have different musical tastes from you, doesn't make what they like inferior.

But it's true though. Like I've said before, the big difference is the music from TGF envokes imagery. It creates little film clips in my head. I've said before that Honest Man is hard times in Belfast Northern Ireland, Tredecim is the ocean and storms with rising waves and a dead beach. There's a picture of a somber looking beach on the inside of Rammstein's "sehnsucht" album cover that for some reason comes to mind. TGF make me think these things. When I hear Eds music I just see him with a big goofy smile and that's about it. It just doesn't evoke imagery. There's no substance to the music itself. If you removed Eds vocals and made them karaoke tracks then you'd have some really bland stuff.

I feel a bit different, mate. Music has to get me thinking about me. Maybe I pay too less attention to myself in daily life, I always am concerned about the others and have no spare moment to think of what I need or want. that is indeed bad and does not help me cheer up. anyway, when I listen to music, I have to think: fuck, that's me, or damn, it was me!

TGF does it to me. Alive? No way

I'm well aware of that. There's plenty of music out there that I don't like that I can still respect. I can't respect Ed, which has nothing to do with the legal side of things (that's a whole different matter). I've pointed out heaps of times why he's inferior. And the frustrating part of that is that I held him previously in extremely high regard. So I'm well aware that just because I don't like something doesn't make it terrible. But in this case I believe it is.

That's your opinion, and you are entitled to it. Just as I am entitled to dislike the musical direction that TGF chose for their debut album.

I'm sure we've gone over this. Of course you are entitled to dislike it. If Alive was the first we'd heard of Ed and he'd never been apart of Live then his work now wouldn't be half as bad to me. I mean I still wouldn't like it but I'd just put it down to him being some chump. But it's the fall from grace (no pun) which is such a huge part. TGF isn't your style, but can you say that the musicianship has been a big drop off from Live? Can you say that the songs are more poorly constructed? My point is that we dislike them for different reasons and come from different places. You never seemed to put too much importance on CCP, you said there was no noticeable drop off when they left. To me Ed was an idol at one stage. You have to appreciate and understand where some of us are coming from.
Either way, my point was more so that I don't have a superiority complex and I don't think that if you don't like the same music I do that you are wrong or whatever. Ed is just a special case. I don't respect him anymore as an artist, performer or person. It's different because at once I felt the opposite.
