Is anyone on here going to the Oslo show on September 8th?

I am a Melbournian who now lives here in Norway and I actually cannot believe that he is coming to Oslo seeing practically no one has even heard of Live over here. I guess that's why he's playing at a 400 person venue :-p

As much I'm pissed with Ed for how he treated the rest of Live I still can't stop myself going to see him. Although I think it's going to make me a bit sad thinking back to how things were. Nothing will beat the first time I saw them in Melbourne in 2000. The lights dimming and hearing the start of "Where Fishes Go". I also got to go backstage and meet the guys too, what a wonderful experience. Think I worked out that I saw them in concert 7 times in the end.

Ah well, I'm just rambling. Hope it's a good show anyway :-)

To be honest if he or Live never came to Aus then I would still possibly go see him, so I can see why you'd be excited! That's strange though, I have a friend that lives in Norway now and she seems to think Live is ... well, not popular, but at least known. Wish I lived in Norway sad.gif

Promo for the London Islington O2 Academy show:

BAND: Ed Kowalczyk

WHERE: London Islington O2 Academy

WHEN: Thursday, August 26
The former Live frontman makes his solo stage debut, introducing his rather impressive new album, Alive, as well as some of the old favourites.

“Right now, we’re playing nine or 10 songs from the album, and then there are the hits from past, although they’ve been given a new twist by my band.”

Joining the singer are his brother Adam [rhythm guitar/backing vocals], James Gabbie [lead guitar], Chris Heerlein [bass] and Ramy Antoun [drums]. So far, they’ve done about a dozen shows in America, which is enough for Kowalczyk to get enthused about the way it’s all going.

“I thought we’d start out at about six on the scale, and just get better, but we’ve come in at an eight, and still improving with each date. Right now, I feel very comfortable with my position. The album’s been getting an incredible reaction everywhere. People are saying it’s a real return to form, and made them remember why they fell in love with Live back in the mid-90s. But it’s also taken me in a new musical direction.

“The chemistry between everyone in the band is just getting deeper all the time. I haven’t felt this excited and passionate about anything I’ve done for years.”

The plan is to keep touring into 2011, with a return to the UK on the cards.

“Right now, nothing’s in the schedule, but if it all goes well, then we’ll be back for festivals next summer.”

As for the Live situation, Kowalczyk is careful not to rule out a return to action.

“I never close any doors. But currently I have total tunnel vision for this project.”

Lol, I couldn't help myself but laugh when I read that part. Rather impressive.

I don't know why, but I genuinely had to laugh about it.

That's the telling line, and exactly why his music has been complete shit for the last 10 years. I'm sorry, but he still doesn't have all that much to be excited about right now either with Alive, except for a larger cut of the $$$.

Not sure if this was a radio interview. Think it was and another poster put up a link to hear the recovered file he found on it.

The link also does have some good photos of the concert. Is that Adam in a couple of the photos next to Ed?

Guys, I see your point, but frankly I think you need to stop comparing Ed's solo performances to LIVE. All good things come to an end eventually.

If you have any respect for Ed, let him find his way. There's a thing like midlife crisis even for the spiritual rocker. With his mind set on something else, he wouldn't have been much of an asset to LIVE in years to come. The band was destined to go past their sell-by-date. Be grateful they burnt out before they faded away...

Good post............. I agree 100%.

Hmmm, possibly it's because the majority of people I've been asking are my girlfriend's friends who are about 4 years younger than me and were maybe too young even for TDTH. Glad to hear that they are at least known though. I'd like some sort of atmosphere at the concert!

Well I can't wait to get back to Australia :-p Haha. Weather is depressing for too much of the year and it is expensive even if you are on a Norwegian salary. Australia is the best country in the world :-) Not that I'm biased...

I think we already know the setlist (see prior posted setlists) but you can wait in anticipation if you want.

I'll be seeing him in Flint and I already know what he's going to play.

I'm hoping that Fire on the Mountain makes it onto the setlist.
