How anyone can call themselves a fan of this band and believe a statement like that is beyond me. Regardless of whether you think Ed's solo stuff is great or not, if you believe this you're just wrong.

Ed backers are getting desperate.

Good point but Ed is also the sole reason for Live's demise. This is indisputable and irrefutable.
He lifted them up and also single-handedly broke them down. How you like them apples ED lovers?

The info that Chad provided to the Live community says otherwise. There is not one single (or simple) reason for this band's demise.

In our little Live community, its not the case. To the vast majority of people out there, CC&P couldnt be picked out of a 3 person line-up.

By the way, have I ever mentioned how awful In Your Light's lyrics are? I don't think I have.... THEY SUCK.

Also, the thing with SSs lyrics are, they might seem weird, but there's mystery and intrigue in there. I'd rather be confused for 10 minutes (SS) than bored for five seconds (Alive). There's very few decent lyrics in Alive. SS is interesting. Alive is just horrible, tacky, cliches God related bullshit. God. Lol. God. Lol. Magical man in the sky. Lol.

Also, In Your Light is the suckiest suck that ever sucked. Ever.

Desperate? Ed was the face and voice of the band. The others were musicians.

Who gives a fuck? If CCP wern't present and it really was some backing band Live would not have had this sort of success because we wouldn't have had the same songs, so there would be no Ed for the vast majority of people out there to recognise either. Your point is totally mute, Ed's nothing without the boys, and they wouldn't have made it without him. They were a unit.

Just musicians. Backing musicians. Petty little peasants tagging along to rinse what little success they could undeservedly steal away from the almighty Eddie K.

Nom nom nom nom nom nom nom.

^ That's the sound of EK fans sucking EK's no doubt shaven penis.

And without those musicians performing at the level they did and their input into writing those early songs that made the band what it is today then Ed would be a husk. I don't understand your point, this really is sounding desperate. Yes Ed was the face of the band but CT was the arms, CG was the spine and PD were the legs .. the face on it's own would have done nothing unless he was aiming to just be a model.
Back in the old days you'd generally see interviews not just with Ed but usually one of the others too. Hell I remember when they came out here in 2000 and CT had an interview spot on TV all by himself. Things only changed dramatically towards the end when it became the Ed show, which is clearly what you prefer.

Yes, they were a unit. A unit who's voice and soul (person) up front was Ed.

To look back and say whether or not either Ed or CC&P would have been successful w/o the other is simply a guess. Either could have easily been bigger than the other, or vice versa. They are all 4 very talented musicians. To say that the success of any of the 4 wouldnt have happened without them being a group, in my opinion, is a slap in the face of thier individual talents.

And he hits the nail on the head with this quote: "Ed Kowalczyk has, from their earliest days, been the voice, the lyricist and the soul in front of what was, effectively, a backing band."

MJ was written by them ALL. This is a fact. How can you agree with this guy, then, who is saying that Ed has been the lyricist since the earliest days.

The reviewer didn't do his research, and is wrong. If you like it or not, he is wrong. Therefore he doesn't have that much credibility either.

Think what you want about my preferences of Live, Ed, etc.

To me, of course they were not just backing musicians. To the vast majority, they were. Live was the band that sang the song about placenta, and then the rest of their stuff was just noise.

What the fuck? You're just contradicting yourself, you just said you agreed with a guy who said that the rest of Live were a backing band. THAT is a slap in the face.
Maybe one could have something without the other, I doubt it, it was just the right combo I think at the right time, so maybe, maybe not. Ed was up front yes, but he was NOT infront of a backing band. He was infront of a group of guys who worked with him and wrote with him and helped make him as much as he made them. To say that Live in 1995 is the same as Ed's band now who have no writing credits, don't even have a band name, stand in the back in the shadows being unnoticed, don't participate in interviews is just insane. Yes the general public couldn't have told you the bass player from Live's name .. but the bass player from Live (whoever that guy is) was a hell of a lot more important to propping Ed up at the front on stage and behind the scenes than whoever the bass player is for him now. I'd expect this sort of thing from Nick who is just a moron, I thought you at least had some sense but either you're just like him or you're trolling .. I can't work out which.

DUDE, you just said one page ago that a guy hit the nail on the head saying that the rest of the band were a backing band, now you're saying to you they're not??

Either way, it is my belief that without the other 3 there would have been no Ed K to sing a song about the placenta and no one would have heard it to recognise him. Funky made the point before. If "Alive" was the absolute first thing Ed had done as an 18 year old with a debut, it would have done absolutely nothing and he'd be burried before anyone got the chance to know he existed. Without the combo we got there would be nothing for Ed to be the face of. You're right, MAYBE he would have made it, but it's really, really unlikely and the odds would have been heavily not in his favour.

I don't get this either. no.gif

Live was a band and they wrote music together. The band was successful because of what they did together.

People may recognize the lead singers of bands the most, but you don't hear anyone intelligent saying "Man Bono and his backing band sure sounded great tonight!" or "I'm so glad Chris Cornell got his backing band back together!"
