I bet your friends are 47 year old women.

So? You have made this comment before. Why is it that in your eyes, only 40 something year old women have the ability to enjoy Ed's latest work?

I will bet my last dollar there will be MORE middle aged (also likely to be bald and beer bellied) MALES at Ed's upcoming concerts.

Have you checked out the amount of HOT Dutch and Belgian 20 something year old chicks that frequent Ed's gigs?

I don't know what I could possibly add to a 27-page thread.

The only thing that I can say, after trying to listen to this, is that I think Live should've broken up/went on hiatus/wtf-ever they've done after BOP. This is SFBM The Sequel. And as Randy Meeks would say, sequels suck. Which means this album has suck-coaked suck all over it.

Pics or it didn't happen. I find it very hard to believe there are any good looking women at his concerts.

I bet you are 45 plus .. didnt mean to offend ya.

Hot 20yr old Dutch girls were mentioned. This is now the focus of the thread and much more important than Ed. We need a new poll - what would you prefer, a hot 20yr old Dutch girl or a free copy of Alive?

Nope, but I'm a woman and numerous years to go yet to reach 45 plus but I've been to a LIVE concert and to Ed's solo gig last year and I know for a fact that the guys outnumbered the women by a lot....especially bald headed ones with a bit of a beer belly.

My niece is a very hot Belgian chick now living in Australia. She has been to many LIVE shows with her friends. She is 25 and she tells me that the girls in Belgium and Holland of her generation LOVE Ed especially!

In all honesty I thought there were heaps more 35yr old women at Eds show last year in Melbourne than any other demographic. Not picking fights but that's honestly what I noticed. I remember an MTV thing they did on Live a few years back where they said Live had become the "chick flick of rock n roll".

More on 25yr old Belgium girls though!

And what's wrong with 35 year old women at Ed's concerts?! Someone has to love him...well I did once upon a time before he fucked up.

Actually, around me there seemed to be a lot of probably 20 something year old guys at Ed's Melb gig. He does have a wide varying (ex)fan base.

Actually............. no.

I have shared the cd with both Live fans and one who has never heard Live.

The Live fans have all said they enjoyed the cd. Not overwhelmed by it, but did enjoy it. Said they thought it would be a knockout cd with the original group.

The one person who listened with me on a road trip who was unfamiliar with Live enjoyed it a lot. She is considering purchasing the cd. Said she would be interested now also in maybe listening to some of Live's cd's.

None commented on the lyrics at all. Mostly comments that they liked the music/songs and the vocals.

My brother had a similar reaction back when the album was up on tunelab. He enjoyed the music, wasn't blown away but found it enjoyable none the less. He's a Live fan too, by the way and as far as I know, not a forty seven year old woman.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it as such, it was just strange seeing that overwhelming demographic around. Not what im used to at shows. Of course back when I saw live in 97 as a kid those 35+yr old ladies were part of the crowd and were 13yrs younger. But it seems as you'd expect the fans to grow older with the artist that most other demographics have dropped off and left that one as the majority concert goer. just leads one to believe Ed is still doing something write to keep them and music that appeals to them, which makes sense why it's doing nothing for me. *shrugs*

Now back to this hot female player Belgian niece of yours! You gotta fix me up! Haha

They both laughed at the lyrics and corniness. Has anyone else had this similar experience when sharing it with someone else who may or may not be a fan of Live?

I mentioned others' reactions to Alive. I just shared it with another peron, the one who originally introduced me to Live. He has been a long-time fan. He agreed with my other friends that he liked the cd, but he admitted that he preferred Ed's earlier lyrics. While he said he didn't "have any problem with the more spiritual lyrics" on Alive, he said he did prefer when Ed came from a more political direction and that his earlier lyrics were what drew him to Live in the first place.

Getting back closer to the 'alive' topic...here's a vid link of Ed playing Grace at kidsapolooza (if that's how u spell it)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nFe0eXAZTs...be_gdata_player

I lol'd at his awkward kiddy banter before and after - not a bad rendition solo acoustic of 'Grace' though.
