I know it hasn't been out long, but has anyone figured out the TAB for Honest Man. This song just keeps growing on me. I love to play guitar... I suck... but I certainly like to pretend. I'm even worse at figuring out how to play songs on my own, so I need to rely on others who are a lot more skilled than I .

Not so much of a help there. You clearly overestimate my guitar playing ability.

Interesting. I'm like Chris, I have no real ability to figure out songs on my own, so I usually work off of tabs or at least someone mentioning the chords. I have, on occasion, been able to figure out a song on my own though.

With that out of the way, Honest Man began as "Believe", as a +Live+ song did it not? If so, it's odd in my opinion that it'd be drop-D. I can't think of any other Live song that was drop-D, detuned half a step, yes.

Not saying you're wrong, but rather, that I think it's unusual guitar work for what was a Live song.

A ha! Lakini's Juice is drop-d, tuned down half a step (as always). Check it out. And if you never played LJ w/ drop D, now the song will really take off for you

To be really really exact, Lakini's Juice is in Open D tuning, then down a half step.

As for Honest Man, it is in fact in Drop D tuning, down half a step. Opening riff would be:

Ab|----3-5--------------------------------------|
Db|-0------0--5--3-----------------------------|

The fourth time in the riff, there is this fill:

Ab|----3-5-----8-8-8-8-------------------------|
Db|-0-------0-----------------------------------|

The chorus riff looks like this:

Db|----5-7---5-7---5-7----3--3---------------------------|
Ab|----3-5---3-5---3-5----3--3---------------------------|
Db|-0------0-----0------0--3--3---------------------------|

Db|----5-7---5-7---5-7----6--5--3-------------------------|
Ab|----3-5---3-5---3-5----6--5--3-------------------------|
Db|-0------0-----0------0--6--5--3-------------------------|

Hope this helps. I haven't tried out the bridge section or solo yet, but this should be a good start. The tab does not reflect the timing of the song in any way.

Also, I wrote this post without a guitar with me, so if there are a few errors in there, then it is just a bit of memory failure.

Maaaaannn! Drop D is such a pain in the ass. I just had my guitar "setup" and had the intonation set for 1/2 step down. All these damn tunings! I think I'll just have one set for 1/2 step down and maybe the other in drop D. I guess it really doesn't matter.

So I'm straight, it's just regular 1/2 step down then just take the d down an extra 1/2... correct?

I was watching the video in the beginning where Hennesy is flipping the switch on his Gibson on and off to make that cool sound effect. PRS doesn't have that... at least on my models but I do have a LINE6 Pod and some other effects that could probably mimmick that sorda,.. maybe like a combo tremelo and delay... hmmm I don't know. I guess I should figure out the song first.

Thanks guys.

Leave your guitar in standard and then drop it down a half step, THEN tune down the E string/top string a full step. You should be set.

Here's how a manage it. Although I don't play electric, exclusively with my Takamine (obviously inspired by Live purchase) Acoustic-Electric.

-My guitar 95% of the time is tuned 1/2 step down.
-If I want to play something in standard tuning, I simply slap a capo on the first fret.
-If I want Drop-D, with the Capo on the first fret, I tune the E-string down to D
-Removing the capo will then, create drop-C# which is what Lakinis and Honest Man appear to be in.

This allows me to transition between any of the 4 tunings by only tuning the E-string up or down a step.

Not sure if it'd work well on an Electric.

That's pretty damn smart. I don't know why I never thought about that. Thanx for the awsome tip
