He is listed as the songwriter isn't he? Unless he is just singing melodies into a tape recorder and having someone else figure out the guitar then he would be the one writing all the chord progressions. Seeing as he plays guitar that would be kind of odd.

But remember in the "ultimatum" Ed was going to get all writing credits for Live songs in the future, regardless if he wrote the music or not.

Ah right, yes yes yes. Well if Ed did that then, what exactly does Jim Wirt need to do?

Curiously, does anyone think The Gracious Few's music matches early Live?

No. Why?

In some ways like the intensity, the musicianship, the rock it does, and in some ways surpasses it. It's different, but it's not really comparable, so far it doesn't come close to the magic that Live captured on the first 4 albums. No lyrics Kevin Martin has written yet overall match what I loved about Ed's early lyrics, I also prefer Ed's early day vocals.
Like Funky said and I totally agree that I think Honest Man or The Few would be welcome on any Live album.

He wrote the parts that Chad played on the electric guitar (picking, lead guitar, etc).

The chord progressions are the basis of the song, the parts are what Jim Wirt wrote to go with that.

True dat.

Also, on 'The River' single, CT is NOT even mentioned. CG & PD are, but it says 'Guitars Ed Kowalczyk'. nervous.gif

That's good for CT. I wouldn't want my name associated with that song either.

I recently got a friend of mine to listen to the whole album without telling him how I feel about it or Ed.

I also had my wife listen to it in its entirety.

They both laughed at the lyrics and corniness. Has anyone else had this similar experience when sharing it with someone else who may or may not be a fan of Live?

For the record, both of them liked Live in their heyday.

Actually............. no.

I have shared the cd with both Live fans and one who has never heard Live.

The Live fans have all said they enjoyed the cd. Not overwhelmed by it, but did enjoy it. Said they thought it would be a knockout cd with the original group.

The one person who listened with me on a road trip who was unfamiliar with Live enjoyed it a lot. She is considering purchasing the cd. Said she would be interested now also in maybe listening to some of Live's cd's.

None commented on the lyrics at all. Mostly comments that they liked the music/songs and the vocals.
