Ok, this thread has sidetracked from its original intention. Since none of the Australian venues are questionable, I'm going to split this topic. Please continue discussion on low standard venues here:

Jesus, that's expensive for him. I'd be thinking maybe $49, I've seen acts bigger than him at the forum for $49.

frig, that is too expensive. I dunno - to go or not...

How much was he last year in Melb? I can't remember.

Just checked $59.90. Not sure I can convince anyone else to go with me at 71 bucks.

And all standing up the front. I liked it last year with the seating. Front seat tickets means no one takes your spot!

Honestly? Yes. Although I shouldn't be when it comes to Edward and money.

Anyone know if the ticket prices for any of his shows in the states have been that high? If they're not, I wonder if it's an attempt to recoup the costs of doing a tour down under? I'm also curious as to how those prices compare to the ticket prices for his Netherlands shows.

I doubt it, but then again I was surprised that Live was sometimes charging over 30 dollars towards the end of their run. What do I know?

I don't know why people are surprised at the costs. These are standard ticket prices for an international band. Of course ticket prices will be higher than what people in the US pay. The travel costs are massive in Australia. Where else would a band travel 4000km (east coast to west coast) for just 1 show?

Pokey: which international bands have you seen at The Forum for $49?

Its obviously not so much surpirse as it is a chance for the Ed-hatng crowd to take more pot-shots at Ed over something that they know nothing about. Its getting old.

Seen Royal Crown Revue there for $49, Lily Allen's first gig there was $59 I believe (although when she came back again as a bigger name the price was higher). Alpha Blondy..
I was going to say Madness and Kaiser Chiefs for $59 but realised they were at Metro not the forum. Similar venue though.

There's definitely the other end of the spectrum though with bands that have charged a lot more. I saw Franz Ferdinand there for $80 and Motorhead for $110. But Ed K is neither of those bands. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I do think it's more than it could be. I mean Ramy could bring his toy drum kit in his hand luggage on the plane *ba dum ching*.
I guess looking back I should be more surprised at the price for Ed solo, I've seen a lot more solo performances here from international acts a lot cheaper than he was. Considering the cost of travel for just him and his guitar and big tall bald guy that followed him around with a camera was obviously a lot cheaper than the whole band.
